Summer 2016 for 91 Days, because unlike mob psycho which runs on Hype Train of One Punch success that was original work. Amaama to Inazuma definetly better than Mob Psycho and deserve honour mention.

Spring 2016 was probably best season of 2016: Joker Game, Sakamoto, Re: Zero, Kabaneri, Boku no Hero, Bungou Dogs.

Fall 2016 3-gatsu no Lion, Fune wo Amu, Drifters, Nanbaka, Hibike 2 and fuck me, but Yuri on Ice good enough.

First part of Winter 2016 is complete shit. Second part of Winter 2016 yet to come, but it seems that it's going to be horrible shit.

Of the first 3 seasons only Concrete Revolutio S2 was genuinely good.
Then there was Ajin S1, which was controversial because of 3D but with a good story and great characters. Also Re:zero as an enjoyable guilty pleasure, but very forgettable and with annoying female characters "Take me as your waifu anon!".
I haven't watched Rakugo though.

Aside from that it was a lot of mediocre and average shows. Autumn has really saved 2016.

If you're 30 or older, you'll probably understand almost everything and love it. If you're a tokufag or enjoy old japanese movies it'll feel like it was made for you. If you've read about structuralism in college then it'll feel like all of your useless theoretical bullshit actually has an application.

Otherwise it might take some additional reading to reorient yourself when you get lost. Fortunately the airing threads did a great job of compiling media and history references into images and pastebins. You can probably find them archived.

The 3 or 4 first eps are a mess because they tried a silly non-chronological storytelling and fucked it up. Bones being Bones, they always have to fuck up something.
But after that it's okay, so yes.

It definitely would have been better with a chronological storytelling though (save for the MC past and a few other things that works well as a flashback).

We saw our Lord Sakamoto in animated form. It also had cast of the year.
