It's poppy as an absolute motherfuck. The arrangement is flawless and rich, the melody is so novel, so driving, and has so much range, and the way that she belts out those choruses just grabs onto my soul. I'm a huge sucker for up-tempo garagey pop, and this song is just impeccably crafted. I could definitely critique the verse, but other than that I just can't praise it enough.

It was okay, I don't see what's supposedly awful about it, the two girls were qts and that was enough to keep me going. Kudos to the ghost painter episode for having a scene with both bondage and feet with the purple qt.

PSG kinda did similar, by making the dub more vulgar than the original since Gainax or whoever felt it would work better like that.

Has anyone watched this recently and liked it? I mean, without the nostalgia context?
I've seen a few clips and the humor feels awfully immature and dated, kinda like an old NewGrounds cartoon. I'm sure my 16yo self would have found this hilarious but it barely gets a grin out of me as an adult.

I watched it a few months ago and made it through the whole series. A lot of the "humor" might border on irritating, and the main plot and ending are super weak, but the girls are cute, it's not a pain to sit through each episode, and the cat's voice actor's likeness to Salem Saberhagen is amusing.

Watched it a month ago. It is pretty immature, having an early south-park vibe, a lot of swearing for the sake of it and so forth. Admittedly a good portion of the humour is 'whoa, you can't say that in an anime dub!' but there are enough original jokes ('Fill the hole, hole-filler') and self-referential humour ('Draw her hair Pink! God this really is an anime') to make it enjoyable nonetheless. The escalation it has makes it pretty bad too, like how they stop censoring swerwords haldway through and how they stop caring / understanding the script at the last couple of episodes.
I would say that it is actually better than the average abridged series, as at least for some episodes, the general tone of the story stays present. Think of the Spooky-Nurse one. I'd guess it's a pretty sad episode originally and you'd think they would completely redicule it but they actually keep enough of the original theme to make it work to some extent.
