To add, I honestly like Trunk's new transformation not because of the difference in hair but it feels like a solution for him to not have to go grade III and then downgrade when its unconvieniant. Official guides have been calling it Ascended Super Trunks actually. So I assume its Ascended Super Saiyan 2 Grade 5 (where Grade 2 is ASSJ2, Grade 3 is USSJ2, and Grade 4 is FPSSJ2), this one is basically Grade 5, so its basically FPSSJ2 with the added power of USSJ2 and God Ki compressing it all into one space.

I'm someone who likes Super Saiyan God the best out of all these new forms, purely because it shows actual subtlety and restraint in its design, and because it's the polar opposite of typical power increases in Dragon Ball and it fits with how it came into being.

Super Saiyan God isn't an angry, raging form, it's calm, collected, and peaceful. It's a complete rejection of all the angry and violent Saiyan brutality that their race became known for, and intentionally so as it was meant as something to put a stop to it. It becomes a God in that it allows the Saiyan to fight for something beyond themselves, fight AS something beyond themselves. It's not an individual raining down vengeance on those who wronged them, it's a savior born from the people's hope, trying to stop destruction.

The design is a perfect representation of these qualities. The muscles actually become more compact, not bulk up. The hair and eyes become a piercing, but warm red color. The face doesn't have the added harshness that the forms fueled by rage have, it's peaceful, yet focused.

It's in direct and stark contrast to the Oozaru form and the other Super Saiyan forms, especially Super Saiyan 4. Rejecting this Saiyan nature allows it to become something more. Goku himself realized this, and had trouble wrapping his head around it. He knew on some level that this was rejecting "Saiyan nature" on an even further level that he ever did before, it was something he couldn't achieve on his own. And he was upset over that. Is it any surprise that he eventually lost the form, but momentarily regained it when he remembered all the lives that were depending on him?

Call me a shill if you want, but I do believe this is some genuine subtlety on display.

I used to despise Blue at first, because it was the typical complaint of "deviantart recolor SSJ1, bullshit", but its grown on me significantly, I just can't get used to God though. I think its mostly the compact nature and the eyes, mostly the eyes, it just bothers me heavily for some weird reason.

Just what I've been hearing, I have yet to see it to, but it sounds like a name they'd come up with. I'm inclined to believe it since it seems the name people have been using lately for it as well.

Either way, I just assume its basically SSJ2 stacked on top of each other and compressed with God Ki. Which would explain the massive power increase. Basically a macgyver form.

Honestly I feel the dub does a great job of actually translating the voices. The one exception is Goku's immediate family and we all know how people feel on that, personally I think Nozawa is a great voice actress, she just doesn't fit Goku, but just my personal opinion.

I prefer the dub just for that very reason, but I think its all good. I don't think based on XV2 though that Schemmel's Black sounds very good, Nozawa does a great job with Black however, and I don't see the dub doing a better Zamasu at all.

But overall, I think people are free to like whichever one they want, people just get a bit too autistic about it and throw sperg fits.

In the manga Supreme Kai met with Gowasu for Kaioshin reasons and had their apprentices fight. Zamasu hears about goku because Supreme kai and kibito tell Zamasu that it was goku and not them who defeated Majin Buu.
Zamasu gets triggered that a ningen did what a god could not, and goes full autismo when he sees goku fighting on godtube. Because of that he goes to Zeno, kills gowasu, hops forward 1 year to use the dragon balls to body swap, then goes to future trunks' timeline because Beerus and the Kai's are dead there.

Just one of those things Toriyama was probably like "Do it, it'll be hilarious". I love Dragon Ball as a series, despite its many flaws, but Toriyama isn't really that great of a writer, he's more about silly gags and dumb shit overall.

Like Whis said, Goku is way too laidback. He never uses backhanded attacks, so in his mind, backhanded attacks don't exist. He always drops his guard.

Goku Black doesn't so you can't really use a sneak attack on him.

You can only blind him with ki (like Trunk did with the Masenko), or flush him out with tear gas (because even a Saiyan body needs clean air to function).

Toei bases it off of Toriyama's newer designs, which he's been doing to try and get more in line with current scrawny ass anime characters.

Toyo's is more in line with older Toriyama art where most people had actual definition and tone, because it was the 80s and people weren't all skinny twinks...well not as much.
