This surprised me almost as much as the kiss. The conflict in this scene is exactly the kind of thing that most animus use to generate endless misunderstandings and cheap drama between the main couple.

Instead we got piggy telling him directly what he needed and Victor listening to him. Personally, I am fine that we didn't get any confirmation about Kiku's feelings towards Sukeroku. It hurt and it was a good kind of hurt with everything happening in the story, plus I felt it was a good way to see how the writing goes with Kiku.

I don't really think it's necessary but it's to their own. I am fine with both ambigious and canon homo confirmed because it depends how it appeals to me.

For example, Victor/Yuuri is pretty much confirmed but I can't get emotionally invested to the pairing at all. I find their dynamic interesting and good but not in the level as most do here. In contrast, Sukeroku/Kiku was very well done for me: their childhood, friendship and rivalry, their jealousy towards each other, how both loved Rakugo so much that it also created all kinds of problems etc. But I know this is personal opinion so I get the hype for Victor/Yuuri and I am glad there is some homo out there that it might lead to writers not holding back to canon homo in the future.

The reason why I'm suspicious this show isn't going to take the romance route (aka canon homo) is the fact neither Vctor nor Yuuri ever reflect on the nature of their relationship. We had that moment on the beach when Victor asked Yuuri what he wanted him to be in his life, but that got done with and dismissed quickly. Other than that we've never seen Yuuri introspect about why Victor is so weirdly affectionate to him, or Victor's thoughts about how he feels about Yuuri personally.

Narratively, it has been solved and all we need is to see Victor demonstrate what he learned to wrap up his development. I have faith in the creators of this show, meaning either they part ways before the end or they'll work out their problems. The biggest problem is Yuuri's possessiveness. There's also an inherent power imbalance in their relationship, though that seems pretty minor. And it's hard to differentiate between their feelings for each other as sportsmen and their feelings outside that.

I trust Yamamoto and Kubo to not write an unhealthy relationship and never address the problems.
