There's not a ton of yuri porn because guys want to see penetration. That is why futanari, even though its a weirder fetish, is an order of magnitude more popular.

So we're left with yuri romance. For men, there's not a male to self-insert as. Instead you're left with deeply feminine romantic storytelling. Its probably just really emasculating to read something along those lines. Also the sexuality is toned way down, and there's a lot more focus on emotional intimacy in a typical yuri story. Its not the kind of romance I really picture a lot of guys reading.

Plus BL is filled with more taboo and drama than yuri. With boys being together there's more social risk and danger than it is for girls being together. Not saying that there is no danger for yuri couples but it's pretty boring compared to the other. Girls being together is already fairly normal as friends and it's just nice to look at and go 'aww'.
