Do you actually have proof of this? The Code Geass RD line in general is dead and the Metal Build Lancelot Albion has been indefinitely delayed so Akito never got anything beyond the second episode.

Compared to R2, nothing they did was that bad. Akito had a standard mecha series end plot. Gundam has a long history of introducing magical elements at the very end, especially Newtype shenanigans, and this was not much different. Just with Geass related stuff instead.

Only one episode of Akito evef relied on Lelouch in any significant way (number three) and that specific volume didn't get higher sales for it, so that's doubtful.
