The Astro Boy version that was called Mighty Atom for some reason.
Akira if you count movies. Otherwise, NGE.
Space Battleship Yamato
That thing where Mickey Mouse bombs Japan.
Konosuba

Re:Zero
Voltes 5
I'm not as old as you're thinking. It just happened to still be on air when I had to stay with family in the Philippines for a year as a wee lad. This was around 2000 iirc.
The original gundam
>>149805464
I can thank my spiral into this passion thanks to my mom and her love for Candy Candy. Actually watched it on bootleg VHS tapes with my mom. She rented them in K-town Los Angeles in the 1980s. She was the one who introduced me to anime and manga, and routinely got me copies of Dragon Ball and Ranma 1/2 all the way until I moved away for college.
When my parents divorced and she got remarried in Korea about a decade ago, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening up a coffee shop that had her favorite manga available for customers to enjoy and rent.

It's in the thread you fucking retard
Jesus Christ, someone even already spoonfed you, just fucking READ.
Legend of the White Snake (Hakujaden).
>>149806531
Inspiration is pretty much the opposite of plagiarism. And Gainax manages to surpass the inspiration everytime without fail. Yes, I have seen all of those anime.
Megazone 23. Equally cheesy and enjoyable
>>149807141
Matrix would have felt like much less a movie if I had seen Megazone 23 first.
>>149805464
Probably "Battle of the Planets" (it was the dubbed version, so it gets the dub name). Or Speed Racer, if that's older.
Oldest movie... I don't know the name, but it was your typical pre-Eva teenage-hero-forced-to-pilot-mecha-Dad-built, against aliens from one of the moons of Jupiter. Along the way, he falls in love with a Jovian princess or something.
It ends with the good guys storming the giant space station to save the day, but the Secret Villain commands it to crash into Jupiter before he dies. The hero gets badly injured (mortally?) trying to blast his way through a horde of automated turrets, whereupon the arrogant/honor-driven Jovian Prince heel-faces to save everyone and charges through to the control room.
Anybody know which one that is?
Probably Tosho Daimos
>tfw you never realized that there was a mushroom cloud every time the monster of the week got BTFO
>>149807258
>Or Speed Racer, if that's older.
Fuck, I forgot Speed Racer. Does that even count though? I feel like most kids watched it on Boomerang
>>149805639
This
>>149807258
Just googling up makes it sound like Braiger? The trouble with 75-85 giant robot stuff is that they all fall into a jumbled mess with very few standing out.
>>149806017
Your mom sounds fucking based.
Totally not Lion King
>>149807120
who's the chick on the left?
>>149806531
Kochi doesn't count when it's a direct parody of Ace wo Narae.
>>149807555
Key.
Strange and a bit of a slow burn series, but still worth watching.
Probably Ideon. It was pretty good cause I got to watch the Blurays.
>>149805464
1937 some pre war jap shit
>>149807740
>>149807555
Oh, forgot I was going to make a point that Key isn't really like Rei unless you feel they're clones in the "pale-haired emotionless girl" sort of trope.
>>149806017
Same here with Candy Candy, she and my imouto binge watch the series every year around June.
>>149807909
Also the first Key OVA was out only a few month before Eva aired.
And my oldest anime was probably Ginga Tetsudou 999 (1978).
>>149808097
Yeah, I figured that was implied from the "Original" thing in that image there.
>>149805464
Your mom

The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife
There were some really old animations like the voiceless films of old uploaded on nyaa a while back. I think one of these had animals playing baseball. I remember downloading them and watching the whole batch. Might have to dig up old hdds to find them again.

Excel saga, the most broken anime at that time
Probably astro boy
Keijo
Does Project A-ko count as an anime? If not then I guess Mahoujin Guru Guru.
Horus: Prince of the Sun
Otherwise, Ace wo nerae.
>>149807529
Damn, didn't knew Japan copied Lion King, and here people say that Japan is the land of originality.
>>149806531
man, who doesn't know optimus prime?
Let me rephrase OP's question a bit so the answer will be different.
What is the first anime, where you understood the word anime in reference to japanese animation, you watched?

Probably Future Boy Conan. When did Versailles air?
>>149805464
My local TV was running various 1970-80 anime like BIA (Majokko Megu-chan), Daimos and Maya the Honey Bee, but the oldest one would be Tiger Mask.
And boy, did I love that show.
>>149805464
Just finished watching gunbuster. It was overrated. Its ok but not as good as /a/ gives it credit
>>149814178
It's the other way around you retard.
Jungle Taitei is a manga by Tezuka published in the 50s. It got its first anime adaptation in the 60s.
By the time the Disney ripp-off was out, Tezuka was already dead.

King of The Hill.

>>149805464
gundam 0079

What I meant is that there's no way Gainax plagiarized Key with such little time between the two.
Probably captain Harlock.
Ive seen older but Harlock is the one I finished completely.
>>149805464
