I watched all 8 episodes the same night. It was kinda fun to notice all the differences. I had my favorite episodes among the 8 but I forgot which one.

It was a very interesting story-telling experience, but a completely dumb commercial move.

The episode is actually genius, and by far the most important in the series. It's abstract, but everything makes perfect sense and sets up the movie beautifully. Next time you're gonna watch Disappearance do this:

1. Someday in The Rain
2. Disappearance
3. Someday in The Rain

And just pay super close attention to everything that happens toward the end of the episode. The way that it sets up the movie is even more incredible considering this ep was in the FIRST SEASON despite being chronologically the last one before Disappearance.

Something feels off, I feel as if I've been in this place before

I mean, there isn't a whole lot of problems with how Endless Eight was in terms of animation and such but it was a lot of filler material that didn't have to be animated and there were at the time 4 other light novel stories of materials excluding Disappearance which could've been animated that would've been a lot better. And with no S3 because of no new novel releases, that's just a damn shame.

Unless Tanigawa decides to stop being lazy by coasting on the money he has earned on the series and translations, we're not going to get another Haruhi light novel, which is sad. I would say at least if he was respectful of the work and fanbase he has built, he would at least finish off the series in at least one more novel to tie everything up but it would probably take maybe 2-3 novels given past light novels' prose.

In any case, it's been 5 years going into 6 years since Surprise came out and Surprise took 4 years to come out in 2 parts. So yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

I think indirect references to it would've been fine given that the movie was getting promoted via a trailer at the end of S2 and liberties in the anime could've been adapted for those stories with direct references to the conclusion of Disappearance to not include it or etc.

In any case, we're not getting anything else unless Tanigawa's royalties run out and with copyright the way it is now, he can pass it off to his offspring and it would still be printing money.

I watched it all the way through to the end while it was airing, and it's complete garbage.

The only people who defend it are Kyoani shit-eating idiots. There is nothing bold or creative about it, it's just pretentiousness of the worst kind.

I'd be totally fine with it if it were just 3 episodes (first cycle, some middle cycle, last cycle).

I genuinely want to know why it went as long as it did, though. It's not like they recycled animation or reaired the same episode. They actually spent money making new episodes.

From a business standpoint, Endless Eight was really perplexing. I don't know how it actually happened.

I agree with this. The basic idea of endless eight was cool, but eight episodes is far too long. 3 episodes, with enough differences between them to keep things fresh, would have been enough to get the idea across but not too much to be boring

I watched it beginning to end when it was still being released weekly. The frustration and further satisfaction that it was finally over is what really tied me down into this anime. I'll remember it for life. The horror as the viewer realizes that yuuki replayed this scenario much much many more times than we and the role that plays into one of the best goddamn anime movies ever (disappearance) are what make this god tier. More shows need to have balls and go down in history

I mean, there isn't a whole lot of problems with how Endless Eight was in terms of animation and such but it was a lot of filler material that didn't have to be animated and there were at the time 4 other light novel stories of materials excluding Disappearance which could've been animated that would've been a lot better. And with no S3 because of no new novel releases, that's just a damn shame.

Unless Tanigawa decides to stop being lazy by coasting on the money he has earned on the series and translations, we're not going to get another Haruhi light novel, which is sad. I would say at least if he was respectful of the work and fanbase he has built, he would at least finish off the series in at least one more novel to tie everything up but it would probably take maybe 2-3 novels given past light novels' prose.

In any case, it's been 5 years going into 6 years since Surprise came out and Surprise took 4 years to come out in 2 parts. So yeah, I'm not holding my breath.

I think indirect references to it would've been fine given that the movie was getting promoted via a trailer at the end of S2 and liberties in the anime could've been adapted for those stories with direct references to the conclusion of Disappearance to not include it or etc.

In any case, we're not getting anything else unless Tanigawa's royalties run out and with copyright the way it is now, he can pass it off to his offspring and it would still be printing money.

Necessary to set up Disappearance and part of what made it so good.
