Because Arc-V never assed itself to really build on anything that mattered, including character relationships & development, or interesting aspect of the plot. The show just dodged it all instead like a neverending game of dodgeball. Even the most laid back 'whatever' series like GX could be assed sometimes on the character interactions aspect.

Episode 92 was the wake-up call that perhaps they were being duped all this time that there was or ever will be any real substance or payoff to this show. They got a peek under the cover and saw an abyss of next to nothing.

Are you watching the series with the original Japanese+subtitles, or the dubbed version of the show?
The dubbed version censors a lot of the original content, so I recommend watching through the show with subs.

Although it is not part of the three shows you brought up, I recommend watching the Yugioh movie: Bonds Beyond time, which features Yugi, Judai/Jaden, and Yusei.
If you like the flow of the movie, Yusei, or Paradox, then you should go ahead and watch the 5D's anime.

A lot more in later series; there were a lot more people who actually cared in the first series, and although there are some standouts (like Yusei's voice), most of the actors either don't care or aren't skilled enough to do anything worthwhile with the complete lack of direction they're given (Yuma's voice, for example).
Not that I've watched anything through. I don't regret steering clear of it completely, despite perfectly liking it when I was watching 5D's in 2011 on TV. The characterization is pretty childish. I'm still mad at how completely ear-grating some of the voices in ZEXAL were; even with terrible acting and stupid scripts, at least I could enjoy the sound of their voices.

I'm 90 episodes in, and my main problems are
1. None of the Yus are used like they should be. Yugo is stupid and irrelevant to the main plot, Yuto and Yuri are both severely underused to the point where Yuto had one duel and Yuri has had none so far, and Yuya is mostly okay but keep repeating the same thing to himself every episode--feels like I'm back in Duel Monsters.
2. I'm 90 episodes in, over 2/3, and so far only 5D's characters have shown up. If they're going to do legacy, they should've introduced the others way sooner. I'm okay with having 40/50 episodes before getting into the main conflict and introducing all those old charas, but having "some" show up and waiting such a long time for the rest is dumb.

The only relationship Yuya has that you could maybe call solid is with Yuzu, but it's hard to take her seriously as a good enough opponent for the very final duel.

The final duels of each series all had duelists with high powerlevels in their own show going neck and neck until one squeaks out a win (except for GX). I guess Reiji and Yusho would be the most likely candidates, as dry as that would be. But Arc-V's disappointed in surprising ways before, so who really knows.

I still like to watch Arc-V and tune in every week just to see the crazy shit going on. I've really liked how its basically one big story arc instead of several mini-bad guys. Yuya is also really cute even though they did mishandle the whole egao thing in several parts.

So since we have rumors or reports that we are getting a new yugioh series reveal in december, whats kind of series would you like to see? And what kind of cards would you like to see the main characters use?

Some people are speculating this guy from the new game might be a new protagonist, which could be cool, but i'd prefer a whole new character. Maybe with a deck similar to Yugi or Yuma, with a nice mix of monster types and summoning methods. Rival character could be similar to manga Manjoume, and have a deck that focuses on summoning dragons, or maybe Wyrms.

I've had enough of dragons, we need a break from them for a series or two.

GX was surprisingly conservative with it's usage of dragons. Even Manjoume only used them as one facet of his deck, which also somehow contained V-Z and Ojamas.

Ideally I'd like them to focus on some under-supported types, like Pyro, Thunder, Reptile, even Wyrms. Not like that's going to happen considering the dragon fetish that's been present in the past 3 series.

I think it was a combination of being legacy characters and being handled incredibly poorly. Kaito was Shun mk.2 who not only never lost a duel (up until Joeri) but also butted into plot-relevant conflicts (Dennis, vs. Obelisk Force, rescuing Ruri) with his one-pattern dueling for no reason. He was also converted to Jesus Sakaki's smile church off-screen for no discernable reason, he just turns up and says 'you guys were right I suppose, I guess I'll stop being an asshole'.

Asuka was turned into eye-candy, winning a duel vs. jobbers to show her off, then proceeding to never use her until she jobbed embarrassingly badly against Yuri.

Edo has literally not won a single duel in Arc-V, and beyond that turned into a whiny brat at the mention of Yusho, then got easily EGAO'd by Yuya, and promptly switched sides like it was nothing, only to get steamrolled by Yuuri.

Compared to them, Jack and Crow were handled remarkably well, despite being shoehorned in because lolremember5Ds. They actually had character and motivation to a certain extent.

I remember liking the second Digimon series that had the original characters hanging out with new ones.

One of the biggest issues with Arc-V's returning characters is that they're "in name only" kind of deals. They have none of the backstory or characterization of the originals, because the writers just shoehorned them into the story without explanation of why they're even there.

It's one of the annoying plotholes. Where are the protags, if their rivals exist in Arc-V? Did they exist in the unified dimension before Zarc? But that means Zarc being defeated would cause them to un-exist. Of course, the real answer is just that the writers didn't bother coming up with an angle to introduce the rivals into Arc-V.

I suggested that because that's how I approach this show. I used to watch all of the eps, until around halfway through Synchro, when it became clear that the writers were stalling because they had no idea what to do with the show.

There was bullshit like many characters being locked up in solitary confinement for episodes, on top of them participating in a tournament for no reason, preventing the plot from moving forward because there was barely any interaction.

The arcs after Synchro got worse.

The GX anime has a lot of filler duels that are irrelevant to the plot in season 1 & 2, but most of these duels only last for one episode, and they are actually pretty entertaining.
For season one, duels involving Kaiser, Manjoume/Chazz and the Seven Stars are the important ones.
For season 2, duels involving Kaiser, Edo/Aster, brainwashed students, and Saiou/Sartorious are important.
If Judai/Jaden has a duel that involves any of these characters, you should prioritize seeing it.

After season 3, which introduces Yubel and the transfer/foreign students, most duels will be plot relevant and the tone of the show will drastically change.
It makes it worth going through the first 2 seasons, and you will probably miss the light-hearted duels from season 1 when you watch season 3.

It starts out dark and edgy like S4 GX or 5Ds but then it lightens up until right at the end the MC decides to drop his overpowered cards with it's "sick Ritual/Fusion monster that can only be summoned by contact fusing ritual monsters" or some other arbitrary overpowered monster and decides to finish the series with a waifu deck.
