The events seem not to be sequential just like how in the first episode she mentions wanting to stay in a town longer than 3 days, which is what we find out was actually the town in the last episode

But the other characters we meet like the swordsman + dog from the coliseum get their own little chapter-big stories in some books develop character in order.

Anyways, yes, you could hunt rabbits or squirrel with a .36 cap and ball revolver if you really wanted to. It's a lot of work unless you're specifically looking for the challenge of using a muzzleloading firearm.

You could also hunt them with a .22 pistol like the Woodsman, but if you really wanted to get into small game hunting, you'll probably want a 12 GA shotgun with game loads or something like a 10/22 or Marlin Model 60. As far as pistols go a Ruger MK III or 22/45 would be much more available on the market than a woodsman.

Some people use PCP airguns to shoot noisy ground squirrels from treestands to keep them from spooking the deer, since a gunshot would have the same effect.
