Not him, but people are being way overdramatic about the animation quality. Every TV anime in the universe experiences a dip in animation quality after the first episode, and most don't have to convey nearly as much movement.

YoI in particular does alright for itself considering exactly what kind of motion is being animated. Ice skating is both ridiculously smooth and distinctly human, so being able to put out a recognizable product on a tight schedule at all is something of a feat. The fanbase needs to be a little more realistic about what we're getting.

It looks like shit when you pause because QUALITY, but at no point are they stingy with the actual movement. They animate every little bit of each program, they aren't cutting corners to avoid showing it or reducing the steps or anything. They clearly just don't have time to refine each frame. I wouldn't say that. The situation with Yuuko was kinda complicated. He admitted that he chose skating over pursuing her. His confession probably would not been a full-blown confession considering she was married with children, but enough to come across on how important she was in his life.

Plus, he might have been hit on by women (like that girl who he pushed away when a rinkmate got hurt), but Yuuri never let anyone get close.

Plus he only did the woman's part because he admits that he is not active pursuer type. He rather pursue something passively aka seduction.

YoI is still above average as far as I'm concerned. TV anime was never supposed to be 24/24 fps Ghibli tier animation. You have to remember anime is an industry which prioritize cost effective animation. Have you tried watching Endride? Naruto fillers? Bleach fillers? Now those are worth complaining about. We could also talk about stuff like Chihaya, where actual animation is minimal and stills are legion. Yet nobody complains there's no animation because when they take screencaps it looks pretty. Honestly, that line made me sort of question the director's choice to have Victor narrate over Yuri's program rather than hear Yuri's thoughts. Though, maybe this is one of those things that will work better if/when they get the opportunity to fix the animation up since I get the distinct impression that some of the presentational issues with Yuri's FS undercut some of the nuance we were supposed to be getting out of the visuals.

That was the point. You were supposed to wonder what the fuck was happening in his head. My interpretation is that he was so focused literally nothing went through it. It is kinda scary though how much his personality changed though. It felt like a realistic take on the superpowered evil side you often see in shonen.
What I fin even weirder is that Viktor didn't seem to notice anything. Or maybe he already knew that side of Yuuri was lurking beneath the surface all along.
