Everyone talking about Dragon Ball Super and shit, and here I am just nostalgically remembering DBZ.
Dragon Ball Super might be going strong,but it just can't replace DBZ for me.
Post and talk about whatever you want that's DBZ related. I'll start with a 'best villain' discussion.
My favorite is still Majin Buu. (specifically the 'Super' version of Buu)
While Frieza had a pretty basic goal (ruling over all) and Cell wanted to achieve perfection, and destroy everything imperfect (everything but himself), Buu was an unexplainable force of nature who wanted to simply destroy for the hell of it.
He also has a deceptive depth to his character. While appearing to just be a brutish pissed off maniac who only cares about destruction,he has shown intelligence beyond those of ever Frieza and Cell at times,willing to use incredibly crafty tactics to beat opponents stronger than he is,such as self-destructing when he couldn't beat Gohan and absorbing Vegito when his guard was down (Frieza and Cell wouldn't allow themselves to do that because of their pride.)
Yeah you might argue that Cell would have been a better final arc villain (and I agree to an extent) but Buu just has a special charm to him that you can't deny.

DBZ was still bad and still said it was okay to spend a bunch of episodes on pointless training arc after pointless training arc piled upon tournament after tournament and power-up after power-up.
Whether it was anime-only or not is irrelevant because anime is the more exposed medium, and thus the one more likely to inspire future artists to be just as shit.

You're right. I'll retract that statement, but the rest still stands pretty solid.
Everything from the moment Raditz touches down on was a mistake, even if I enjoyed some of it I can't say it didn't fuck up the long-term of shounen anime.

Cell self-destructed as a last resort in order to kill everyone.Simple and straightforward.
Buu FAKE-self destructed to trick everyone into believing that he's dead,so that he could give himself time to regenerate and recover. Not to mention moments later he sneakily tricked Gotenks into absorbing him.
Definitely the most cunning of the main villains.

I'm just pissed off that all the characters in Super act as if Buu wasn't a heavy weight fighter. He was the most powerful being in the universe, bar none, before Goku hit the scene. Nobody short of Beerus himself could even hold a candle to Buu. It's complete bullshit that the first thing Beerus asks after waking up is "who beat Frieza?" when Frieza was an ant compared to Buu. Why does everyone pretend like he never existed?

You just worded it in a way that implied cell wouldn't/hadn't self-destructed.
I always found buu's fighting style to be equal parts amusing, creative and creepy.
