It's his character, he didn't want to involve anyone else since he knew they would help. As for transportation, really, there was absolutely nothing he could have done about it. He's in the middle of fucking nowhere so any means of transport besides, I don't know, a bike, are out of the question. Also I don't think flying over there with rinzu would've been an option either. For one, flying might drain a lot of rinzu for all I know, and second, he only had the slightest idea where he was or should be going. Not a good plan to just fly around without a target in enemy's territory.

It's generally a really great dumb action show with an entertaining cast. The beggining is a little rough, but once it gets going, it's great
It also helps that the CGI's much better than Polygon's (the other studio actively doing full CGI stuff)
It's a pleasant surprise because nobody knew what to expect when it started back in winter since we only knew a basic premise and that it was an original by Sanzigen
Being an original also helps because it means we'll get an ending instead of just the typical "BUY THE SOURCE TO KNOW HOW THE STORY CONTINUES BECAUSE YOU'LL MOST LIKELY NEVER GET MORE SEASONS" bullshit that happens with adaptations of ongoing manga or LNs

By the way Kogane also knew from his plan and didn't say anything.

We have two childs who grew up on earth and might be not the smartest, okay.

But just as day before they were fighting giant robots who at least at that moment still were allied to Democratia, so the enemy has giant robots and Azuma has nothing, how is he supposed to run away with Kaoruko afterwards, not just army vehicles would attack them but it might be even giant robots AND as if that was not enough they even heard the proclamation of Kaoruko that Guy already killed some other childs.
So likely Kaoruko is in very real danger.
There is no time to wander around and search the mansion, if Guy hadn't come, he would have arrived very late, maybe in the evening or even later.

So it is not about intelligence, this is missing alot of logical thinking here.

It seemed first like he had good intentions but now we got told he doesn't really care that much about stopping Buranki to save humanity but basically wants to become god to recreate the world.

He first brainwashed team russia then killed them off.

He first used Kaoruko then tried to kill her off just to remotely control Entei.

His ring he threw near Kaoruko, which might imply that he never cared for his wife or from beginning not existed and just used it to appeal to Kaoruko's wish of wanting to see her family again.

But now we see he takes care of children who might be his own.

Is he Gendo 3.0, not using Shinjis but still wants to reunite with his Waifu, even if he need to recreate the world

Or is he just crazy evil egomaniac who wants to rule the world and his children might be just the BUbuki user who he bascially manipulates by pretending to be their loving father.
In the end he basically wants to become god to forever rule humanity.

The best crime fighting duo.

Just watched the episode and I've got to say I really liked it. Not only was it great to have another one of those (surprisingly well done) philosophical debates between Azuma and Reoko, but there were also a couple of scenes that contrasted Gu's evilness with some surprisingly human aspects, even if you think he recognised Azuma (and I'm not sure I do) reading for the kids as well as that quick scene where he was sitting alone in the dark really made him feel more than just a one-dimensional evil for its own sake villain.
And it was great to see Kaoruko react to Zetsubi how pretty much everyone reacts to her.

How is this anime? I remember watching only part of the first episode and it didn't really draw me in. Is it worth checking out?

I openly admit to absolutely loving Bubuki Buranki.
I've always been a great fan of these super robot type shows. The Buranki mech designs are all really great mech designs, but I also absolutely love how each complete Buranki is made up of a team 5 pilots. Who together control the Buranki. Barring the recent Netflix show of Voltron it almost feels like forever ago I saw that concept being played straight.
But I also love the setting beyond that. The pilots aren't merely one part that makes the whole of a Buranki, they're so called Bubuki users. Wielding a part of a Buranki as their tools/weapons. In addition to being infused with the magical-ish powers of "Rinzu", allowing them to basic magic tricks in forms of various enhancements, barriers, and various regenerative abilities among other things.

With a setting in large ways resembling that of 80s punk, but placed in a much more modern vision of the future than of that era's.
With tense political situations and oppressive regimes, in a world that is in constant danger of so called headless Buranki. That for practical purposes are essentially Kaijus, that Bubuki users to fight in order to protect humanity.

Which put together essentially gives us a very interesting setting, with threats both in forms of humans without BBK/BRNK powers, humans with BBK/BRNK powers, in addition to headless Buranki that act as a common enemy to all politics aside.
In other words a rather tense situation on multiple fronts, which really forces the Bubuki / Buranki users to band up and work together in order to shape the world from the tense turmoil that it is, towards one closer to their vision whatever it may be.

I absolutely love it. Now add to this that the show has a pleasant combination of light fun and deep serious moments and developments.
It is legitimately my favourite mecha show in ages, and I am already quite fond of mecha shows as is.

As for the looks? I initially thought I'd hate them since I've always had a bias against 3D CGI anime, and thought that I'd have to take any potential good from the show in spite of the visuals. But even that grew on me, and since long now I've already fallen in love with it. They've clearly got a good grasp on the strengths and flaws of 3D CGI animation, but perhaps most importantly, also got very good ideas of how to compensate for said flaws. The result is something quite beautiful if I were to say so myself.

Occasionally he can come across as something as a moralfag. But largely speaking, he really isn't.
He'll punch people in the guts. He'll defy laws and regulations if the end purpose is good. And one of his defining traits is that he'll listen and try his best to see things from the perspective of those that do things differently from him, and no matter whether or not he ends up agreeing with the or not he'll try his best to see things their way. And even if they'll ultimately have to agree to disagree, he can still depending on things respect his opposition and stance on things even if he ultimately does not agree.

So it's less that he is a moralfag, and just more that he has some boundaries he just can't imagine crossing.
It's probably also worth noting that while he may be the protagonist, he is still quite literally part as a whole that is his team of 5. With how they form the Buranki Oubu. And since they're basically always together, you'll pretty much see multiple opinions and perspectives on things since they run things in-between each other whenever something comes up. And they all got pretty distinct personalities from one another. So you'll seldom get overwhelmed by any one specifically since it has this balance to it.

One thing that's very notable about the animation in BBK is that you may or may not like the 3DCG, but it never falters. This show is very consistent in its look, unlike regular TV anime that will give you two great looking episodes and then you get to eat shit.

And I'd say that the CG is not as good as great 2D animation, but it sure beats bad 2D animation.
