Don't like it. Obnoxious characters and some of the most annoying comedy I've ever seen.

Kaori was done well, though, and I loved the letter at the end.

Too much forced drama. Forced illness.
But the worst is probably that the director is not able to keep the serious scenes serious.
The moment can be touching and just after the girl starts screaming and turning the whole scene into a comedy

Yeah, there was hardly a scene in the series that wasn't self-sabotaged by the idiotic humor. Edit the series to be tonally consistent and make the characters less assholeish, and it's fixed.

It really got me.
The scene where she colapsed in the hospital and started puching her legs was sooo fucking depressing. And her scream just fading into silence before the ED stared made it even worse. Even if the show overall wasnt perfect there were some moments that were absolutely overwhelming.

I looked like that cat several times watching this.

The point of that was to show how the dying girl was forcing to be cheerful and making jokes because she didn't want people to feel all sad about her.
Jesus Christ my little 12yo sister understood that the first time she watched the show.

Almost all the cases of that apply to Kaori or the childhood friend doing something retarded suddenly, which is attributable to her being cleary tsundere towards the MC.
The moments were that particular tone-shift happens without one of these two can be counted with the fingers of one hand.

Talking about this show is 100% guaranteed to bring cringe. I wish it never existed. It's the Clannad of 2016.
