This, Ugo got to look like the biggest badass in the manga, in a way that seemed to really pay off in regard to the ultimate smugness continually shown off by Sinbad and David. It showed that their arrogance in believing they were born to decide the flow of the world was pathetic and small-minded. Then right after that Sinbad asspulls his way back, not even "because im a REAL king!" or anything, but because his Djinns held together his Rukh. If Ugo got that powerful from his time spent in charge of the sacred palace the Djinns who support Sinbad shouldn't have been able to do him in that easily, and if he was able to put David on ice so easily before, how was Ugo so easily tricked by his illusion this time around? I honestly would have preferred if Sinbad just busted out of the flow of the rukh for screaming "WE KANGZ NOW" because there would be fewer plot holes.

This is one of the few big, BIG problems I have with Magi. It has such a cool setting with a world that is rich and abundant with different cultures and countries with vast histories, but we had to waste a whole fucking year on those shitty imperial Chinks. Essentially, if Sinbad+Djinn Crew+David jobbed to Ugo so hard a chapter before, what changed that allowed them to overwhelm him in their second encounter? All his Djinns did was to denounce Solomon, claim their devotion to Sinbad as the king, and then have David convince Ugo this was all cool with an illusion. If David was capable of that before how come he didn't do it BEFORE? The only thing I can think of is that somehow Sinbad was powered up by entering the rukh and David then was powered up by that as well? Legitimately confused.
