JoJo was only translated recently, for a long time the only thing we had in English was part 3 and Stone Ocean, and the translation for part 3 was only finished in 2010.
It's old translation and DUWANG were pretty terrible sloppy rush jobs done quickly, it took years but VA was the last part on the list to get translated and worked on by a better team.

We two are the only saving grace of jojo.

Guys, I don't enjoy the anime version of part 4 as much as when I read it.

I feel like Kira looks like an empty character with little depth, just a bad version of Bateman from american psycho. Each fights are looking more like fillers deconnected from the main story and it doesn't feel right.

While when I read it, I felt like Yoshikage Kira was a beautifully written character, and that each and every character and stand power was filled with psychological and philosophical depth. Most fights were entertaining by themselves, and all the characters where lovable for one reason or another. But they look so empty and meaningless in the anime.

Am I the only one having that feeling ? Was I not able to see the flaws of part 4 when reading it ?

Explain me what made enjoy more part 4 after watching the anime ?

For me, it lost a big part of its dark atmosphere and menacing feeling from its proximity with reality and highlighting the human flaws and sins that I enjoyed while reading it.

The writing changes, the added scenes, the atmosphere of the soundtrack, the consistent artstyle (even with the shoddy animation), and the love you can tell David have for the source material.

And the dark atmosphere is definitely still there. Especially with the added scenes of Kira with his victims, that add a lot of mystery to the part that resolves around mysteries.

Guys I can't objectively decide what part is the best part and why.

Part 7, part 5 and part 4 are the ones that I personally enjoyed the more(loved Diavolo/Doppio and the fights on part 5, loved Yoshikage Kira and Rohan on part 4, loved the crew and the final fight of part 3, enjoyed Joseph and Cesar + the wammu and ACDC fights on part 2, loved part 1 for everything, and had troubles with part 6's fights but great antagonist, beautiful story. The "tragedy" style of the backstories of the characters are damn good and the philosophical aspect of this part is damn good.

I feel like some part are definitely superior to some others, but I can't grasp why.

What is your favorite part and why is it superior ?

I am of that opinion now.
But I used to go 6~ odd years ago because it was only place to meet other fans of your niche. They used to have DDR machines/ card games and things that were removed from the Arcades/Clubs back home.
The ahows were generally fun and they used to have actual acts/shows going on that were free. Eurocosplay used to have the championships for free there and you'd see actual cosplays with effort.
Now its more full on jew. It's more of just go pay £30 to have something signed.

You used to go and come back with two bags of free shit. Used to give away free Magic decks with promo cards to help get people into it.
Kinda sucks now. But they have like 10x times the amount of people go then when i used to.

Just don't buy anything that's obviously overpriced and know your stuff when it comes to pricing/take advantage of last minute sales, and hang out with people you know you enjoy the company of. And no shit not all the cosplays will look great, some people are working on a budget or honestly can't be fussed with making themselves look absolutely perfect because they just want to have a bit of fun without worrying about being judged. It used to work too. It's how I got into Blazblue was they had a pre release event at the con. They gave you small little command list post cards with art, Taokaka bottle caps, had the esporters of the day teaching people how to get into fighting games. Even small free sticker packs so you could label your buttons for Drive and such.

Is Diavolo the most disappointing main villain?

It felt like his identity was supposed to have a huge impact based on how araki never let the audience see anything of him but KC, but he was just some dude with awesome hair who popped into the story 9/10ths of the way through.

He's a gang boss who believed himself destined to succeed (which fits well with KC), but has no connection to any previous parts or characters besides being given a stand. Which would be fine if we ever got see him (as Diavolo, not man-covered-by-shadows) onscreen for characterization before the climax of the story. But instead we get a villain with no link to the story besides his occupation whose identity is treated as the big reveal of part 5.

Kira was introduced to the audience as a serial killer as soon as he appeared, because araki had no reason to play coy and hide his identity. The driving tension was how Josuke's gang could figure out who he was in time to stop him, not what his identity was.

Dio, DIO, Pucci, and even Valentine are similarly introduced almost immediately as villains (if not THE villain of the part) and work because of their presence in the story. Diavolo might as well just be independent stando KC for how much his character affects part 5.

So why all the mystery around an identity reveal that has next to no impact on either the Gio gang or the audience?

You'd think that at one point Doppio might've met with Bruno's gang and helped them along to deliver Trish. The two parties don't really interact with each other throughout the manga though (like in person, not through a computer), and they only meet up 1 or 2 times in the entirety iirc. I get that Diavolo doesn't want to show himself to anyone in person, but it still bothered me.

In the manga, Diavolo sorta just shows up and starts killing people whenever he meets with Bruno's party. My opinion may change when the entire Part 5 is translated however.

He has a connection in the sense that his backstory states that he was the one who found the Stand arrows and sold them to Enya, thus giving DIO the tools to wreak havoc across Parts 3, 4 and 6.
The arrows didn't really need a backstory, but this does give him a greater presence for his arc since it essentially means the misery of the arrows can be traced back to him.

The thing about Diavolo is that it's this precise lack of a connection between him and everything else that makes his character: he's completely out of touch with his own organization and cares very little about his employees (he even threw Doppio under the bus without a 2nd thought despite liking Doppio). This, coupled with how his character obsesses over fate and had tremendous power fall into his lap, makes him the anti-thesis of everything Giorno and the heroes fight agaisnt.

It's the whole "heroes fight agaisnt the odds of fate" thing that makes Part 5. Diavolo stands for everything they represent. The big reveal of Diavolo, his backstory, and the way he acts, is how all the ideas built up throughout Part 5, even through Doppio, come to closure as we fully see Diavolo. Not the Boss, not Doppio, Diavolo.

If you were to have him be involved with the crew directly, even in the form of Doppio, that would make him out to be a mildly competent boss, and not the ultra-paranoid schizo who commits a ton of blunders despite being capable of running Passione and having a terrifying amount of power. It would take away from what he is as a character and the concepts he embodies in Part 5.

The mystery itself is how we, as viewers, discover that the terrifying boss of Passione, despite all his power, ultimately brought his own undoing for failing to acknowledge his weaknesses and relying too much on his power.
