Those are just opinions, I liked the color palette and how they painted the backgrounds. On a technical level it had better animation than Hibike, it was more consistent and used more than simple one-point perspective and medium shots for their framing, unlike Hibike 2 which is one of the reasons it looks so bland right now.

Working in this type of perspective is much easier when animating, as well as framing the characters with medium and close up shots since you don't have to draw full body motions. Hibike, specially S2 has been doing this a lot, with the exception of the second part of episode 4. Phantom World was more bold and dynamic.
