I'll put in the LN stuff anyways but the general gist is this:

Fremy is a half-demon who killed all of the previous six heroes prior to the beginning of the series. She meets the MC (Adelt) and joins his party, though she is distrustful because no one trusts her. Various times throughout the series, the other members of the party try to kill her but Adelt stops them and protects her every time. Towards the end of the show, when Adelt himself is suspected to be a traitor, he confesses his love to Fremy, who at first doesn't believe him but then helps protect him against the others. He nearly dies and she has to feed him medicine mouth to mouth to save him.

Show ends with her and Adelt as a happy couple.

As for the LN, that's where things get bad.

It is discovered that a demon lord only brainwashed Adelt into loving Fremy so that she could kill him eventually. They discover this upon killing said demon lord and Adelt finds he doesn't love Fremy anymore. In short, it was nothing but an illusion of love. On top of that, Adelt finds out that Fremy killed Adelt's sister back when she was still working with the demons. However, Fremy is heartbroken and still loves Adelt. Adelt however is not as amused and directs all his hatred towards Fremy with the absolute intent of killing her

There might be a chance of a happy ending between the two, seeing as Fremy is by far the most popular character in the show.

I've been searching all over for spoilers regarding Volume 5 and 6, only to find it's literally been over a year since the last volume released.

I honestly don't know how Fremy and Adelt's relationship is, because I've seen two sources. One says Adelt fucking hates Fremy and wants to murder her. Another says that he just doesn't love her.

I can see this turning into a temporary setback for their relationship, but really name any other viable candidate.
