I was in China several months ago, and because I speak it fluently I was in a bookshop looking for something to read while I wasn't working and saw a shelf for something called Xianxia. Which is basically Wuxia on super steroids.

Wuxia series are set in the pugilist world (typically ancient china). There is almost always a heavy focus on martial art sects and techniques.

Korean series have the same thing except that instead of the pugilist world, its set in "murim" which is basically the same thing.
