I watched all of Fate/Kaleid then watched Fate/zero, not sure if i can be bothered with fate/stay. Will most likely watch the upcoming movie though.

Started with Zero and currently going with Fate/Stay night UBW.

Zero was great, and UBW (up to ep 3 anyway) seems to be pretty good too. Excepted a lot of shitty fanservice and other otaku-pandering trash, but at most you get Rin in a short skirt in Stay night and Zero was all business all the time.

Remember to watch the original F/SN anime so you can disregard the other series and claim how shit the entire franchise is

Alternatively, post about how shit the Tsukihime adaptation is for maximum effect

Dont. The vn is shit, you have to go over two full childish and chuuni routes to understand the slightly interesting route. The anime is even more shit. Only good thing out of this is prisma illya and probaby fate/zero but I havent watched the latter.

The VN is generally considered to be the optimal entry point for the franchise, primarily because of its three routes only one has a good anime adaptation at the moment. Zero is a prequel and how a lot of people got into it, but it also assumes you read the VN and thus spoils a lot of its twists. The recent Unlimited Blade Works anime by ufotable is a pretty solid adaptation of the game's second route, so if you absolutely refuse to start with the VN you should probably start there and then watch Zero.

Similar to the Tsukihime anime, Deen's 2006 adaptation of the Fate route was a lot of westerners' first exposure to the franchise, but now that the source material is available in English it's not really looked back on fondly (though not quite to the "it's a meme to deny it ever existed" sense like with Tsuikihime.) The movie adaptation of UBW used to be at least worth it to see the route's fights animated, but the ufotable anime has taken away that upside.

tl;dr- start with the VN, if you refuse to do that then watch ufotable's UBW anime followed by Zero

Be sure to cheat in the game. It's not fun.

The game implicitly requires you to grind. Going through the maze once will not yield you with enough EXP to obtain the level threshold by the end of the day. So you have to wait for the enemies to respawn and do some laps around the dungeon several times.

Or you can look up enemy patterns and just cheat, finish the game by being underleveled

Well yeah but FSN had a really good story so I had high hopes. It didn't really work out though.

Watch F/Z and then stop and forget the rest of this shitty franchise ever existed.

The VN is mostly trash that dedicates more time to food preparation than to character development. The DEEN F/SN and UBW are only notable for how terrible they are. The UBW anime is a good adaptation of a garbage story. The HF movies might be good but it's going to take 3 years before anyone here sees them.
