Still images out of context tell us very little about direction. It is like trying to convey the quality of animation through still images. At best all you can say is that they have used a wide range of varied shot types and creatively layered the shots by using different objects to obstruct the camera from an image like yours, you can't tell if those are good shots to be used in the scenes they are being used in at all without context. Like what? Benten wasn't interesting. The main character living in two worlds wasn't that interesting, the friday fellow weren't interesting at all, the father had a sense of aura to him but wasn't interesting, the main villain wasn't interesting.

Not really. The Friday Fellow were meant to be this illuminati type group who have control over the tanuki and that flying group that I forgot the name but were boring. The tanuki actually had a semblance of feudalism and actually had more power than the humans.

The only thing good about the show is the background design and nothing more.
