While being similar to Gatari, tone and general atmosphere were different and it felt like another series, not a Bake spinoff.

BMG were good, and I love the ED. Every VA seems to work pretty well, expecially Tomo and Maki. I was worried about Yuki Kaiji, but he did a decent job being emotionless in this. Narration was fine and it was a good introduction. I was never bored..

This is a good adaptation, but I fear being so close to source material may hurt the overall pacing.

It really doesn't look that much like Gatari. You can tell its Akio's design but a bit tweeked. I mean ya it is his style but it works comparing it side by side to the novel pictures. Which is very few in general. The background art and visual direction is completely different since its Yase Yuki not Itamura. If you cant tell the difference between them then you really need to start watching more anime.
