Does anyone else miss laughably bad mid 00's shows?
No, not really.
>>148892171
/thread
Sadly...yes
No.
Fuck that time. After the glorious 90s I stopped watching anime since it went to shit. Between champloo/last exile I saw nothing until a few years ago. It seemed like the only thing I missed was code geass.
Fmp was good too I guess.
Yes, I do. God, those were better times back then. Nowadays, current anime is just shit.
>>148892712
Yeah, you're dumb.
>>148892874
I feel insulted by the laziness of your insult.
Haha, no. That is the era of anime that I find the absolute worst, sure it had a few good shows but most was trash
>>148892874
>>148892927
GITS:SAC aired in 02, you just a bitter old man.
>>148893104
I am.
But you are right about gitsac. I was just so fed up by then that I didn't see it until earlier this year.
>>148892927
There's plenty of good 21st century shows, 90sfag. Watch Shinsekai Yori.
>>148892712
You missed a lot, actually. But I guess I shouldn't expect anything better from some casual still stuck on 90s anime.
>>148893800
What the hell, I'm actually watching it at this very moment. Get out of my head.
There was a time after say last exile when the quality of shows went down hard with the exceptions being far apart. It picked up again around gankutsu oh/geass and I'd say animu is in a great place today. 90s was great for anime though.
>>148892005
I feel like between 2000 and 2004 is a really strange era of anime. Like it has a uniquely distinct style and look (which, coincidentally or not, looks like complete fucking shit) that sort of persists into the following years, but excluding a handful of really notable shows its... really forgettable? I'll admit its probably the era I've ignored the most aside from anything pre-Nagai but I don't think I'm missing out on much.
>>148892005
Not especially.
>>148892874
>>148893885
Falling for such a low tier bait.
That is a good reason to be ashamed of yourselves.
>>148894956

I've only seen half of them so I can still come back for more if I have that craving.
>>148895120
>he thinks its bait
>>148894456
Early to mid 00s still had a fairly low input of new shows every season, you could literally catch up to everything that timeframe had to offer in a couple of months. They tend to look like shit because studios were just transitioning from cel to digital.
>>148892005
Oh god I remember Yumeria. My friend recommended we watch it so many years ago.
I still give him shit about it.
>>148892005
Some of them were bretty fugging good tho. Battle Programmer Shirase is one of my favorite anime and I recommend it to anyone.
I mean, it's still shit, but that is besides the point.
>>148892005
As opposed to laughably bad early 00s, late 00s and 10s shows?
I liked early 00s shovelware
>>148892005
My favorite era of anime is from probably 1998 to 2008. Yeah, of course. Most of my favorite anime are in that time period.
No, but I do miss comfy emotional shota shows
>>148895962
That show was great. The imouto image macro is still used to this day.
>>148895962
It was laughably hit or miss but it had its place. The cliches were so in your face but I can understand why it turned a lot of people off.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFYt_h_lSp4
Can you spot the 2000s cliches in this opening?
>>148895898
BPS got the shaft, if the studio hadn't shut down it would have been a staple.
Of course I say that because it did get cut down in it's prime. For all we knew the story was going to be dogshit after loli cousin stopped being a loli.
Shit stopped because Akikan is the PEAK of trash mid-2000s shovelware shit.
There will NEVER EVER be a show as great as Akikan.
>>148896161
I'm just down for any anime with technical stuff being part of the background of things. Hacking is always a cool vehicle for storytelling. That's why it fucking frustrates the shit out of me when I see anime that are set in interesting worlds and do absolutely fuck all with it. Accel World and Sword Art are guilty as hell about this in my eyes.
Two interesting worlds with really neat tech that could be vehicles for some really interesting stories and we have to watch some fat fuck and a gary stu stumble around in it. What a waste.
Durara is the most recent show to feature early-mid 00s levels of QUALITY.
>>148896149
So that's where those bouncing boobs come from.
80s>00s>70s>90s>10s
>>148894956
That was fucking horrible holy shit.
>>148896407
wtf I need to be a Japanese animator now.
Early digital had a certain aesthetic to it.
>>148892822
Holy shit, Green Green.
I remember some random time travel hijinks, the fat guy who got blisters from jacking off and the big guy lolicon that ate rice.
>>148896607
Dude has a face like a fucking shovel.
>>148896330
Always thought Gravion and Godannar were the pinnacle of early 00s shovelware.
Then again it feels like mediocre ecchi shit in the 00s came in 3 flavored: unironically above average (rare), camp fun, or vacate the premises immediately
member me?
>>148896641
I watched that with my girlfriend back when I had a girlfriend.
Why? There are plenty of laughably bad shows this year.

No. It reminds me of Gonzo and how it went to shit.

How wacky it is? I love that kind of shows.
I don't know but the color makes it very comfy for me, dump and cliche jokes is very relax
>>148897374
I started watching fansubs of currently airing series in 2002 with Chobits. Off the top of my head, I watched Chobits, Full Moon wo Sagashite, and Aishiteruze Baby as it was airing. I pretty much watched everything that got subbed during 02-05 because most series didn't get picked up.

My country has been pretty close to anime shows so DBZ, Sailormoon and oddly enough Yu Yu Hakusho and Zenki had a cultural impact here, so everyone at least knows 1 anime. The original lineup for Animax in 2000 here was great with GTO, Gatekeepers and GiT:SAC all subbed no dubs
>>148897374
Super Gals is great.
man i wish i was here around the time i was born

There's Bloodivores now, last season was Hitori no Shita.

Ah yes, Karen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlJdTNVkmRE
The anime that was horrifically different than the manga.
Still, it got me interested in moe vampires, and because of that, Jitsu happened.
I feel like there are occasionally newer shows that try and relive those times, sans quite as much QUALITY, Pandora in the Crimson Shell would be the most obvious recent example, but this pic related was a real gem
>>148898438
What were they thinking with that opening?
>tfw I'm one of the few people that misses the large bug eyes

holy fuck rozen maiden was 12 years ago
there are children about to be TEENAGERS who were born when Champloo came out
Though admittedly, I think I came in at the perfect time to get into anime. 03-09 was probably the best time to get into the market just because you had so many shows that could be good, even if they arent staples now (Azumanga, Clannad, Hyakko, Bamboo Blade)
Honestly the whole "schoolroom harem" fad offered a lot more than I thought it would. In reflection, things should have been a lot worse considering the state of the industry right now as a result of these practices.

>>148894456
It was definitely a time of transition, and I remember a lot of harem-type shows based on visual novels that were even more banal than the current trend of light novel battle harems, if you can imagine that. At the same time, those few really notable shows still stand out as being some of the most original programs of all time, like Noein, Fantastic Children, Princess Tutu, and Tweeny Witches.
Gokudo will always hold a special place in my heart, but that's just because my dad was the english VA for Gokudo and it was my first introduction to anime outside of pokemon
>>148898505
Jitsu is fucking great
>>148898328
I still shocked how the anime and the manga were so fucking diferent. Did the author just let them do whatever they want?
>>148892822
The cactus was the best character.
>>148905668
Honestly there was a weird mix of eras during transitional years that can set the bar real low that seems to happen every 4 years
2000 - Weird mix of 90's scifi, fantasy, 2deep4you and ecchi
2004 - Visual Novel adaptations, manga adaptation, ecchi and harem
2008 - Cute girls doing cute things, incest plot types of anime was budding more and more, Transition from VN to LN
2012 - Vidya isekai, LNs becoming mainstay, LN School Battle harems, Idol anime
2016 - SUFFERING storylines, Fujoshi train going really fast, BL bait
The only things not affected by these seems to be Jump, Mecha and PreCure
>>148898052
Candidate for Goddess?
I remember fucking despising this series. It was definitely a low point of a low point in anime history
Still, I'm getting a slight itch to rewatch it, maybe just a few eps.
I watched them all on Animax so no.

>03-09
Yeah that seems about right. With 06/07 probably being peak anime fandom. Just so many things happened around that time that made so many new people enter anime especially regarding fansubs
I hope the fujo/otome fad ends soon. Why is it that in a season where yet another season of Utapri airs, these shows are going as strong as ever, with at least 2 of them (Yuri on Ice, Touken Ranbu) are topping popularity?
>>148906333
I think the premise was good but it was badly executed.
Also after the guy becomes a ghost it literally loses its reason to be, it feels like the rest after that point is just a big filling not worth watching.
