It's not hard to find shit, though - check artists/writers you like, check magazines you like,, search tags/genres you like on MU, pick up things from new updates that look good, lurk on /a/, etc.

Well things that i find interesting and are translated is what i meant by that phrase, but i am aware of a huge amount of manga that are unpopular as fuck but really good. There is so much shit out there but its really hard to find those gems that are interesting to read.

Start by reading through all the works of authors you like. After that, critically acclaimed, popular stuff you think you wouldn't hate. Then, go through all completed stuff of genres I like that's popular, than go through completed stuff of genres that I like that's not popular, but with art I like. Then go through the genres you don't really like, but you find enough gems that you're motivated enough to jump in to Josei manga, and find enough gems that you reckon you'd find gems in Shoujo.

After that, you just give up and read every single thing that catches your eye. Use an app to track new releases of every major site, check the new releases a couple time eveyday, read everything with decent art, drop what doesn't keep you reading past the first 10 pages.

Give it a couple of years, and you'll have over half a thousand manga in your favorites tab that's ongoing, just over half of them updates regularly. Everything from manga about single father living with his daughter and gay, dead brother's canadian boyfriend drawn by a prominent bara artist to one about a JK trying to connect with her dead brother's girlfriend drawn by a yurifag artist. From a bubbly shojo manga about a girl in love with her childhood friend/school nurse to a psychological drama about a fucking autist obsessed with literally fucking mountains.

TL;DR, read fucking everything that catches your eye, regardless of genre or demographic.
