I personally find it anything but forgettable and despite it not being the most technically sound anime, I had a lot of fun with the great vibe/tone that the visuals and general directing were giving off. The character interactions and progression were all really nice too so for a 12 episode series, I think that's a great package altogether.

Maybe that's not what I meant. But to me it felt like a good show, a very well done show, but still very "by the book". And I get the reasons for this, I understand its appeal but, at least for me, it doesn't feel like an incredible and astonishing show. Just a very good show in an ocean of mediocrity.

I liked the Cloudian episode because it offered more insight into the show's female characters, especially Honey. Chameleon episode was very funny, had great loose drawings and animation and embraced the silliness that runs through the show's core from both a narrative and visual perspective. Zombie episode has slick production and was cleverly written. Fine parody.

I really don't buy this "Dandy had bad episodes" thing. Perhaps I just didn't expect everything to be arthouse, but I find it surprising when people are disappointed by certain parts. Dandy's sheer breadth is fantastic, and I embrace it all.

It's good, really good. Amazingly good I'd say. But it lacks the eccentricity that it was advertising in the title. The evil twins, sons of the evil tanuki, and that whole subplot felt really cliche and lacking of something. I wish it didn't have a villain but more of an incidental antagonist; I was expecting Ozu, not Evil Mcmuffing. That's were it falls flat in comparison to Tatami.
It's amazing and I love it though, my favorite scene is the one with the leaves in the brige of episode 7.

It works in some ways, not in others. There are some good thematic elements especially in the latter half, but in the end the world and the peole in it come off as being cartoonishly stupid. Which might be part of the point, but it comes off as lazy writing because it allows the protagonists and villains to be as good as they are precisely because everyone else is so stupid and being used.

Add in some of the more memetic too-bad-to-take-seriously moments and it's more a decent/ok show where enjoyment depends more on preference rather than it being one of the best things of the decade, because it isn't.
