Not that I know of anyway. All I know is it's flopping due to the >CGI. And that's because most just didn't want to bother with it. For me at least it's the most fun show of the year. And I ain't throwing that out lightly. The characters, the robots, the music and hell, the CGI is great. The plot is a bit silly, but it really isn't bad at all. Fits a super robot show quite well. Pity it's being dismissed so easily by everyone. And I'm not just saying here, but talking about the elevens as well. In any case, mad props to Sanzigen after keeping true to their word and doing the second cour as intended disregarding how poorly the first one sold.

This is not true. Sanzigen's previous show was Arpeggio. Also a full CG show that was the highest seller of the season with 10k+ BDs and 2 movies.

It was also 50% anime original to boot.

Thing is, the CGI in the very first episode was a bit off with some of the models since they were made for single very light use considering the time skip that followed shortly after. I myself was put off for half the episode or so. If the threads are anything to go by though, only a couple gave up before the show was over from the ones that did stick with it. That was also in part to a slow start until episode 6 I believe. Basically anyone that made it until team Murrika showed up, kept with it until the end. It pretty much just kept getting better after that.

Not really, to be honest.

Split-cour shows are planned from the beginning like Asterisk, other shows are supposed to be getting a second season independent if the first sold well or not, like Shokugeki no Souma, because of multiple reasons that can go from magazine popularity, boost to source material, merchandising or events.

Only the last case is the scenario where disk sales determine the production or greenlighting another season, like Konosuha, and that is not something that happens that often.

Disc sales determine nothing. Show just needs to make money in some way. Hyakka Ryouran got another season because fig sales were crazy good. Symphogear got more because of music sales.
