Great gravity and going really fast slows down time faggot.
>>
>>148425360
Going really fast makes you really heavy.
>>
>>148425375
So speedy = density ?
>>
>>148425404
No.
>>
>>148425432
So then why does speed make you heavier?
>>
>>148425446
It's complicated.
But just because your weight approaches infinity as your speed approach lightspeed does not mean that your weight approaches 0 as your speed approaches 0.
(since speed is only a relationship between two bodies and not the property of a singular body, the above statement is not technically correct. But I think it'll suffice.)
>>
>>148425562
So it's just the resistance of the object you're leaving that makes you obese?
>>
Is there anything else like Gunbuster? That was really something else.
>>
>>148425623
>leaving
>not crashing into
I was explained the property of weight gain by the example of a spaceship speeding at 99% of lightspeed past a meteor crashing into a planet.
Now, it doesn't really matter how fast the meteor is going. As it's being observed from the spaceship it has a velocity of roundabout 0.
As observed from the planet it may have a velocity off 20000km per hour.
Now we have a problem. Both perspectives are equally valid. But from the perspective of the spaceship it doesn't make sense that the meteor would do any real damage to the planet (on account of being so slow). That's why in order for the calculation of kinetic energy to still turn out right, (E=1/2m*v²), m = mass must be enormous.

If by time travel you just mean using time dilation to "skip forward" relative to other people then yes. And it's not about "accepting" time dilation as real, because it's been both mathematically proved and empirically observed. You might as well talk about "accepting" gravity as real.

It's basically when a character says "We only have ten seconds left!" or something like that, but then the rest of the scene is 2-3 minutes long because of how it's shown; so you're taking a small stretch of time and taking much longer to show it or packing more actions into it than should be able to fit in. Spielberg is well known for doing this, and actually,
>>148431264
Jojo is a pretty good example as well. For instance, in Stardust Crusaders the longest anyone is able to stop time is 11-13 seconds, or somewhere in there, with most stops being 5 seconds or less. Yet every time stop involves dialogue and monologues that go on way longer.

It's easy to dismiss this as sloppy writing or editing, but it's really a story technique for involving the audience in things that would otherwise happen too quickly for them to appreciate.
>>
>>148431493
>>148431529

I'm going with the 1%, because while people might know how it relates to GAINAX and where they undoubtedly saw / heard it the first time, they probably don't know what the source of those lines is.

We have empirical evidence, repeatable and peer-reviewed, that time dilation is real. Like the guy you quoted said, we actually have to account for it. That device in your pocket or on your desk right now is proof.

At this point, denying relativity is like denying gravity or inertia.
>>
>>148431629
>Actually send someone
And sending a clock is not enough because?

>For now all I have to accept is that it is working model which can't be disproved
Yeah, just like you cannot disprove that gravity is real. Because it's real.
>>
>>148431629
We can't send anyone to alpha centauri, never mind the fucking MOON. It's real because very good machines have to treat it as real or they break.
>>
>>148431681

>dark energy is gravity which produces mass

No. Dark energy is unknown at this point, but it permeates space uniformly.

>>148430728

The ether was hypothesized to be the medium by which light could propagate, much like sound waves travel through the medium known as air. It was proven to not exist by the Michelson Morley experiment.
>>
>>148432086
Dark energy is literally mass we can not find.
>>
I'm not even sure backwards is possible since as we know now, you would have to break the speed of light to travel backwards in time, which is impossible.
However, going forwards just requires gravity, as it creates dispairities in the space-time continuum, leading to changes in time frames.
>>
>>148432146
Are you sure you don't mean matter? Dark energy and matter are not the same thing
>>
>>148432146

You're confusing dark energy and dark matter.
>>
Time gets screwy when you go fast in space
>>
>>148432173

Then it is simple, change the sign on the equation so that gravity is now negative and blammo! Backwards time travel!
>>
>>148432146
>>148432202
Dark matter is so dense that each pound of it weighs over ten thousand pounds.

That is going to make it really hard to detect.
>>
>>148432146

True, but to say it's an effect caused by gravity is not true. Just because it's a long range repulsive effect which creates mass that only interacts with gravity doesn't mean it's caused directly by gravity.
>>
>>148432273
>Dark matter is so dense that each pound of it weighs over ten thousand pounds.
Is that why a pound of lead is heavier than a pound of feathers?
>>
>>148424799

>>
>>148432273
>each pound of it weighs over ten thousand pounds

>>
>>148426260
Are you memeing?
>>
>>148432273

Either way, dark matter and dark energy aren't the same thing. Dark energy is the (currently unobserved) force that seems to be causing the acceleration of the universe's expansion while dark matter makes up about 27% of the mass in the universe we can't see. They might be related in other ways, but they're not the same thing.

Also:

>each pound of it weighs over ten thousand pounds

Did you mean to put a volume in there instead of a weight? Like, every cubic meter of it weigh.. oh forget it. I'm going to go eat pop-tarts.
