A lot of the fights in UBW were style over substance. It's awesome watching shit like Archer vs Assassin the first time around, but if you step back it's mainly just flashy with jarring scene transitions and camera angles.

I think the flashier action scenes in UBW were fitting seeing that the VN tended to depict the servants as being truly superhuman but I think you might be right about F/Z's looking more grounded due to how Urobuchi depicted them.

Interestingly enough the animator who did the scene you posted also did the fight scene in >>148404978 so it's also down to the director in charge. Takahiro Miura storyboarded that action scene in Zestiria so it's very reminiscent of his approach to action in UBW.

Yep, which is why I'll never bother with it. After Tenchi, Ranma, Sekirei, Love Hina, Negima, TLR, and DxD, I've seen the best harem has to offer. No point in watching any others.
