The point was, that they gave her the room because they didn't care. It was only because its the path of least resistance.

The thing was, and you should have gotten this from Neko Black, was that her parents weren't going to change, they hated each other and their marriage on top of hating Tsubasa, but they were more afraid of the social stigma of abandoning an orphan so they did the absolute minimum. In fact, her energy draining them as Black Hanekawa not only gave them a restful couple days in the hospital (the story says that despite how it looked, they had no lasting injury or fatigue and had quite a comfortable day in the hospital), but it also forced them to talk and it saves their marriage. And even then, they still acted the same way towards Tsubasa.

So she ends up just asking for a room until she graduates in White knowing they won't change and moves on. That is pretty mature for someone to just walk away from two people who abused and neglected you for no reason other than reminding you that you are shitty people by being a decent daughter. The entire reason she developed the abnormality of her seemingly perfect persona was to prove she was worth loving and not bring dropped off at an orphanage in grade school like they planned to do.

At least now she doesn't hold back as much and has really grown as a character after accepting the tiger.

See here is the thing, she is the well respected class president that people regularly go to for advice and counseling, and she's got hot, so you ask yourself, why would no one get close to her?

She did have friends before Araragi, it's mentioned offhandedly in White because it was part of her going through the motions of denying her emotions, but she had friends, ones close enough that they'd come over to play, and that is where her image was overtturned, because her parents didn't give a hoot to keep up appearances. Those friends saw the truth and refused contact with her afterward because of how alien it seems. It's one of the rare times Hanekawa is bitterly honest, how distasteful it was that her parents ruined her friendships with the way they behaved.

I think it's only Gaen, Ougi, or her parents that bring the claws out of her really. You'd expect she would clash with Oshino, but she respects him genuinely, oddly enough, despite how he acts at times.

Ehh, not really. Araragi even called Oshino out for bias against Hanekawa in Neko Black and he agreed that objectively, she was in the right about her parents being dicks and his stance was prejudiced because she triggers him in his warped view about neutrality.

Kind of like with Kizu, where she disrupted his plans unwittingly to play villain with Araragi by keeping Shinobu's heart by just being herself and it triggered Mr. Balance. Ironically, Hanekawa ended up stopping Kisshot's suicide by cop plan and it's funny how much it triggered Oshino. I still find it hilarious how perfect she would be as an exorcist, and nobody bothers to train her and she just solves shit by her own brand of common sense, even Nadeko of all people is getting trained by Gaen instead of her.

But to my other point, she respects him because he can be wise at times and insightful, not because he "saw through her".

My favorite part of her narration is the full version of her letter to Black Hanekawa that was included with the BDs as a 40-minute special. I never said she was an exception, I said she does it the least. Like in Bake, she only ever had insightful or informative dialogue for most of the show, much of her jokes (like the sumo joke when Araragi tried to purposefully hit bumps in the road when she rode a bike with him to get her breasts to cling more tightly on him.) were sadly taken out of the anime.

But back to my point, Hanekawa mostly says things to reiterate a point and succinctly does so, if she seems to repeat herself, it's because she is trying to get Araragi to understand, and gently probes him. Like in Owari where she softly tried to get him to admit he knew Sodachi's mother was dead. She doesn't harshly or bluntly explain, she explains with magnanimity, that is her character.

She has Senjougahara and Ougi dragging her around during those arcs. Without their interference she's dull as hell. Even then they fail to provoke entertainment out of her consistently. The only time I really enjoyed Hanekawa post-Bake was in the one Koi commentary that got translated.
