Clannad: After StoryA friend suggested I watch the series the day after a very rough break up, to cheer me up.
>>148362092
Yes.
>>148362092
No, Its like any other show. You shut up for a good minute at a sad scene, get a little teary eyed sometimes, then get a good 2 second feel of what happened, then you move on.
There is not a single show to get me more than just teary eyed.

Same. It's a great anime to watch while drunk after a break up. Lucy is the ideal gf. Despite its predominantly 16 year old edgy female fanbase Elfen Lied truly is a series that only men can understand completely.
i cried often and hard through clannad, afterstory and the ovas; honey and clover, chuunibyo, angel beats, and tons more. i'm a weak ass bitch but when your life is shit, getting lost in fiction is one of the only escapes.

I don't watch a lot of anime, only saw three. One of them was Lucky Star.
Back in my first/second year of high school I decided to give lucky star a try. I enjoyed the series very much. Sucked how it only had two seasons.
Been going down to the last 8 episodes or something like that wondering how it was going to end. The Characters end up talking about doing a final dance before graduating from the school. That's when it hit me.
High school isn't going to last forever, I have to make the best of everything, make it memorable. The last episode plays and I cried knowing that all good things must come to an end and tried my best to make the High school years the best damn years of my life.
I did a fairly ok job. It was this idea to do my best in high school I decided to break out of my shell and ask a girl out that I knew for a while during my last year. That was a huge mistake and I regretted it. Just a little 2 months of torture.
So the final day comes, forced by my parents to go to the party, didn't like it but didn't hate it as much as I expected. Overall it was ok with a few exceptions. Before leaving everything behind the thought in my head popped up "So this is how it ends"
Never going back to lucky star, it is behind me like my highschool days. Sometimes I see a character from the show and remember, then continue on never looking back. Even talking about it now sends something down into me.
Every end starts a new beginning.

Usually VNs are better at that for me. I wont name them out of embarrassment but a certain shitty VN with dead puppies/little sisters was not good to read after one of my younger siblings attempted suicide (I just had to go for the childhood friend right off). This nearly destroyed me.
An anime with a time traveling lesbian because it hit close to home with a few characters and also because of my timing in watching it (only watery eyes)
A few more VN I'd rather not mention.

In any case, to the guy who said it's sadder if you lost someone, I just realized that I last watched it prior to the murder of a friend last october, and I haven't really cried since then, so I might try that out to make sure I can still do it.

Also for manga.
That moment in Shieldbro where Atlas dies was really sad and gave me tears. she gets better though.
Mushoki Tensei made me tear up like a bitch couple of times. When Mc's father dies and when MC reads the "diary".
Yes, but I have a lot more of a tendency to getting misty eyed when something really awesome is happening, rather than getting upset when something sad is happening.
That feeling when your heart wells-up with excitement is usually too much. Finishing off the bad guy who's been a total dick for the last few episodes or seasons is usually a lot more emotionally gratifying for me. On the other hand, I can't even think of any time I've cried from being genuinely sad about an anime.

The ending of Madoka Magicka gets me every time.
The ending of Tatami Galaxy always gets me crying and laughing at the same time. The moment when he realizes that Ozu has been his only real friend really gets me good.
>>148374388
I used to think that was all there was to being a normie, just having someone on that same level. That was a long as time ago, I took a bunch of acid over a 2-3 year period about 2 years back and slowly realized that there's a totally different thing to it, and most people are afraid of losing friends so they mold themselves to a non-offensive stock image... needless to say I backed out of trying that shit.

Secret Base is a legitimately beautiful song.
The reason I even watched Anohana was that I was watching a bunch of /a/ sings videos and when the Secret Base one came up everybody actually sang it really well instead of fucking around.
The first might be SEED if remember, for conxtext i was 14-13 at this time and it was first /gundam/mech show. Also i always been a sucker for sacrifice ending and bromance so i cried a bit when Kira "died".
Obligatory Anohana but i was very depressed when i saw it and now the end just makes me laugh.
Last one was Gungrave, i saw it this year, wasnt expecting to be this good.

It's not fucking sad, stop this.
The movie is about pride, the only reason it would make you cry is if you are a sheltered fuck who didn't realize that we set most of Japan on fire until they watched a fucking anime about it.

>he has given up on life and never forgives himself, then writes a book about it which is later adapted into an anime.

>>148375394
the thread wasn't
>has the true story behind an anime ever made you cry
anyway, he was a child, children tend to make dumb decisions, and adults are meant to care for them and stop them
the aunt being a complete cunt going "sell my dead sisters (AKA your dead mother's) wedding dress so I can buy shit"
and "I shouldn't have to feed you, you should pull your own weight"
THEY ARE FUCKING CHILDREN YOU WHORE, AND NOT ONLY THAT, THAY ARE YOUR LATE SISTERS FAMILY, WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM
none of what you've said makes it any less sad, I stand by that they shouldn't have had to go through any of that because of a bunch of politicians starting a war over nothing
call me sheltered if you want, but I don't like to see people in pain, whatever

>>148375620
There wasn't any goddamn food, and she had two extra children to deal with out of nowhere.
LITERALLY the whole point of the movie was that he should have swallowed his pride and stayed with his aunt. I'll call you sheltered because you are, if this is how you found out about Japan getting bombed to shit that makes you sheltered.
If you don't believe me the author has done plenty of interviews, which are actually quite worth reading/listening to.
>>148362092
Way too many times. The older I get the easier I tear up. I'll be an emotional wreck in 10 years if this keeps up.
>>148375753

It's weird. I don't really cry at deaths or sad moments or anything. What gets me are things that are just fucking well made.
Watching F/Z on BD, tears started flowing at the end of the first episode when Saber asks, "are you my master", just because how beautiful and iconic the whole scene and that line is, and how well done the build-up to it, the music and everything. The same with the Excalibur scene.
>>148375753

>>148362092Peacemaker Kurogane, where Yanazaki Ayumu is asked to infiltrate the group of killers as her role as a kunoichi. Her death made me tear up, because I knew it was coming; but still was a strong emotional delivery. The subsequent revenge chapter was absolutely flawless and the bloody retribution was exciting and deserving to those who killed her.
It also helped that in the anime, over the course of twenty six episodes they built up her role really well--and thus, her death was legitimate and worth it's weight in sorrow.
That said, I've also had tears of joy; experiencing the ending of TTGL and Star Driver with /a/, as well as the death of Michael in Macross Frontier, again with /a/, and several other shows along the way.Shame that /a/ wasn't around in the 90s, there were a ton of shows that we'd all have shed tears together over.

Normally I find it hard to cry, but this, the end of NHK, and snail dying are a few of the moments that I have been able to push tears out.
Once Clannad After Story got going, it had a lot of scenes with both the main and side characters perfect for crying.
>>148362092
Every ping pong episode, and Jojo deaths
The only stuff that really hits me hard is mother/son stuff. Like erased and wolf children to some degree. It's just too real if you've ever felt bad for your mom.

>The only stuff that really hits me hard is mother/son stuff.
>>148362092
The existence of anime makes me cry
>>148393062
I cried whentachikomas sacrificed themselves with the satellite drop.
Mukudori Yamabato Koganegumo...Definitely don't want to cry now
>>148376227
Only manga to make me cry over an ocean of cum.
>>148362092
durring the going merry's funeral when it spoke to thank everyone for loving it
I regularly rematch the episodes pertaining to Makis story in Kiznaiver. I regularly cry to it as well.
This, and the ending scene really get to me tear no matter how many times I've rewatched War in the Pocket
>>148370252
I just rewatched this recently, I knew it was coming, yet I still cried like a bitch. The first time it was even worse (10 fuckin years ago). The last 4 episodes were scripted by some sadist.
>>148362092
Lots of times. Very recently this scene fucking had me on full bitch mode. Actually had to just take a minute.
>>148400789
Did the manga get good? Heard it went to shite
>Angel beats
>The first Pokemon movie
>Erased
>Other shit that I can't remember
Also, now Nyaruko makes me cry because of Cthugha's voice actress's death.
>>148363878
That ending didn't make me sad, it made me mad. The protagonist went from an amusing edgelord to a cliche whiny shit at the very end. We all knew how it'd end, but that was stupid.
>>148400883
It was meh. I feel like it played itself out pretty quickly. On the back burner as it stands.
>>148389352
>Utawarerumono had an ambigous ending that could have a positive outlook if you wanted it to be
>The sequel crushes that
>>148367233
>>148375077
Gungrave manly tears reporting. File that last episode under ANIME WOMEN JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND.
At the last episode of Your Lie in April, I had to literally pause the show to go cry... that's how much I cried.
Clannad made me tear up pretty hard too
>>148362306
Cried so hard at this. I couldn't believe the level of feels.
>>148362092
If by cry, you mean get all teary eyed then yeah, a bunch of times.
Just at the top of my head, the last Hidamari OVA did it both times I watched it, and the end of both K-On seasons got me both times I watched them.
last chapter and epilogue of g senjou no maou
>>148362092
This
>>148367157
Yeah that's probably the most recent thing that's made me tear up a lot too. I was drunk though, so I don't know if it counts.
>>148363623
Keit-ai did it better.
>>148366980
Vandread was good. Not spectacular, but good enough that it wasn't the fanservice that kept me around
>>148400313
This. And the last episode too.
>>148390699
GOAT character GOAT relationship
So very often. The loss of innocence, or the knowledge that change is inevitable never fails to make me tear up a little. Tutu remains one of my favorites to this day, but I can't watch it until I manage to shake off the association withe the person who introduced me to it.
>>148362092
ashita no joe, some sad shit
>>148394028
wait what theres a moment to cry in
>Chihayafuru
>Hanasaku Iroha
>NHK
?
>>148397361
You should check out Moribito. It's the only show that ever made me cry.
>>148376648I cried when Volg had to go back after losing to ippo. And I cried whenever the first ED song comes in as an insert song.
>>148362092
K-on is not only the only anime that made me cry. Is the only media that made me cry. Films, songs, books, nothing touched me so deeply like this girls.
One that I don't see that often in these threads is Phantom: requiem for the phantom. When Ein and Zwei fight in the warehouse again.
Clannad and the ending of 20th century boys when Kanna and kenji reunite made me cry.
The end of Sumire 16-Sai where they're telling Sumire goodbye and she's acting like they're gonna keep being friendsand you see the old man smiling and crying
>>148362092
The boy in the stripped pajamas
>>148362092
Angel Beats
when pikachu almost died from teh birds
>>148373459
>little busters
Great, now you reminded me. I cried like a bitch while reading Little Busters VN. Never watched its adaptation.
>>148390200
whoa
Only form of media that has ever made me cry besides Schindler's List. (Yes, I regret it, holocaust didn't happen, and I know Jews control the Globalist agenda)
>>148407139
The girls touched me, now I want to touch them
>>148371569
Sorry anon. I wanted to be with her forever until Nasu pulled this shit then I wanted his address so that I could introduce him to a hydrogen fire. Is it weird to stop feeling strongly towards a character if the creator takes the story in a shit direction? She's still perfect, especially her flaws.
>>148371588
It's a really thin line between tearing up and crying, anon, don't feel bad. One final blow to the heart and you'd have been balling.
>>148371648
>>148371797
KyouxRuri break up didn't even make me tear up but when she takes out Destiny Record and shreds it I felt an intense pang in the heart. Kirino accepting Kyou's confession on the other hand definitely made me tear up. I was smiling for the end though.
>>148363023
Fuck how'd I forget. There's a few scenes of mono where felt tears. Some happy some sad. I actually just teared up for this scene first time around. It was my first rewatch where it hit hard and I legit cried.
>>148364041
came here to post this
AB! is the only one to make me cry and I was fucked up for a minute afterward. Any recs for series with a similar effect? I've seen most Key series and AnoHana
>>148362092
Every time
>>148362092
Few times yes, you'd have to have emotional problems not to immerse.

>>148362092
Eva not only made me cry but destroyed my youth with one feature-length film.
Bravo Anno.
Ano Hana made me cry like a 4 year old girl who fell down a flight of stairs.
In fairness, that one hit a little too close to home.
>>148402051
Your Lie in April got me a bit. Mostly I had them welling up in my eyes, not so much full on crying.
That show let you down really easy, all things considered.
>>148412008
>liking an anime I don't like means you should go back to MAL
Stop trying to fit in
>>148378446
>Angel Beats, episode with Guitar girl got me, rest not so much.
This.
I hear people say they cried at Angel Beats, but it was the guitar girl that wrecked my shit, and not at all to the rest of it.
>>148378955
only tasogare made me cry so far
>>148367614
I don't think he chose to die anon.
There wasn't much choice in the matter.
>>148371504
source?
Why are we still here? Just to suffer? Every night, I can feel my leg... And my arm... even my fingers... The body I've lost... the comrades I've lost... won't stop hurting... It's like they're all still there. You feel it, too, don't you?
>>148362092
Out of 500+ anime, thrice:
1. Chrno Crusade
2. Gunbuster
3. Hoshi no Koe
>>148365203
Lucky star has a place in my heart because it was my only escape from reality during my benzodiazepine withdrawals. And then the same with yuyushiki and nichijou.
>>148371588
What's your definition of cry? If my eyes tear up or my cheeks get wet that qualifies to be. I haven't cried like a baby since I was about 10.
>>148362092
Only one.
Had some tears in the second last episode of Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu
>>148368009
was going to post this, many manly tears
I sure have.
>Nobody mentioned this
Really guys? This shit made me tear up and feel empty inside
>>148368388
it's very close to the start. pretty much one of the first things that happens
>>148362092
This cancerous faggot traces all his art.

How can anyone defend tumblr gifs? Look how unbelievably fucking horrible this is and it's 3.3mb.
Hiro could pay for the servers if tumblr posting fucking idiots were autobanned.
>>148414619
Texhnolyze was pretty good. didn't make me sad so much as relieved that it was over and ichise and the world could be at peace
now pic related on the other hand i wasn't ready for these feels
>>148415067
Haibane Renmei didn't hit me as hard because it had a happy ending
Texhnolyze's ending hits you like a train(hehe) and just leaves you bleeding on the side of the rails
Kimi no Na wa.
I marathoned AnoHana on the 3 year anniversary of my father's death without knowing what I was getting into. I was a NEET at the time and spent most of my days watching anime and playing video games, and getting very little sleep.
I didn't stop crying from episode 3 onwards.
