So is anyone working on this?

I think the suggestions in the last thread were:
- Make it so that it's possible to choose whether you want Kanji Grid to display kanji from a single deck or whether you want it to display kanji from all your decks.
- Allow users to choose which font they want Kanji Grid to use.
>>
>>148334930

If anyone wants to work on this, here's what you have to change in the code:
>- Make it so that it's possible to choose whether you want Kanji Grid to display kanji from a single deck or whether you want it to display kanji from all your decks.
Comment the lines that say "deckname"
>- Allow users to choose which font they want Kanji Grid to use.
Change the part that says "IPA Mincho" to whatever font you want

There are basically 3 types of VNs that would be really hard for beginners to read:
Games with complicated long winded narration.
Games based around stuff asian kids studied in school and you didn't, (Shinto, Buddhism, Taoism, Sangokushi, Sengoku jidai and all that shit).
And finally games that completely rely on the reader's familiarity with the language, using puns, idioms, quotes and references you won't ever get without being immersed in the culture for years and your puny text hooker won't help. (Most of moege are that.)

Sci;Adv series is none of those and even gives you explanations for every single meem the characters use.

At least in America, being fluent in a foreign language, any language except Spanish, is universally considered cool. Languages that don't use the Roman alphabet earn extra cool points. Languages that use Chinese characters are the coolest of all. Remember that people get mundane words like "chair" tattooed on their biceps in kanji because they think it looks cool. You guys are too insecure. You should be proud. Drop this weeaboo persecution complex and exploit your Japanese knowledge for all it's worth.

Question #1: If you saw the word while reading, would you understand the meaning?

Question #2: If you heard the word while listening, would you understand it?

If you answered yes to both questions, Question #3: Do you believe that reviewing that particular word in anki can help you any further?

If you answered "no" to Question #3, just hit "good". Actually, unless you were just not even on the right track, you can basically just skip straight to Question 3.

Note that I'm aiming at this at people who've at least gone through Core 6k. Don't take this as advice to slack off, beginners.

With grammar in general the main thing is to get the basic idea and to know which things are available for you to look up when needed.

>If you've gone though the core 2K deck you have enough vocab to read Yotsuba or any SOL manga really
Why do anons keep trying to make out like all "SOL" manga are as easy as よつばと!?
Take that Core 2k and compare よつばと! with ゆゆ式 or ご注文はうさぎでか? or even 苺ましまろ. Most of them aren't even marketed towards kids and are published in magazines read by young adults. Someone with Core 2k is going to spend a huge amount of time looking up words from scanned manga without furigana that often have highly thematic vocabulary or more random dialogue. The more mundane manga is, the more it tends to involve references and things that the Japanese readers will understand yet most dictionaries won't really help with.
I'd say beginners would find things like Dragon Ball or other more fantasy stuff aimed at kids that have furigana for easier lookups and are general self contained and explanatory with the terms and references.

The spending ages looking up words point isn't nearly as bad as you think either when you consider shit like KanjiTomo exists, and if you're going to be learning Japanese you want to get used to looking up vocab anyway because that's what you're going to be doing the majority of the time

how are gooks supposed to recognize kanji that are literally unreadable like that. Nice scribbles m8
>>
>>148367470
>unreadable
Maybe if you're blind, it's literally just 雨 plus 令.
>>
>>148367518
I guess I am blind
>>
>>148367518
>it's literally just 雨 plus 令
I see zero relation there. Absolutely none. Nothing.
>>
>>148367558
There is no semantic relation, assuming that's what you meant, my point was that it's just two extremely common and simple kanji put together. Far from unreadable.
>>
speaking of 令 (and other kanji that use it as a component i guess) why are the last two strokes different in computer fonts and handwriting?
>>
>>148367596
Nothing is unreadable if the font is large enough for you to clearly see what the constituent parts are.
>>
>>148367662
Because nips can't into consistency.

Google has some Easter eggs in it. so when you google "do a barrel role" your screen will do that.

Why are >20 stroke kanji allowed? Who the fuck thought this would be a good idea?

Does this sentence make sense?
私は欲しい新しふく

No

"I want new clothes."

the last part is supposed to be "clothes" but my keyboard wouldn't change ふく to the kanji for clothes. But ”ふく” is the correct furigana according to anki

新しい服が欲しい
>>
>>148368066
As two separate clauses it does.
私は欲しい、新しい服
But there are a limited number of contexts where you might be able to say it that way.
>>
>>148368108
>服: clothes (esp. Western clothes)
>洋服: Western-style clothes
What's the most natural way to refer to Japanese clothes, then? 和服? 衣?
>>
>>148368007
thank you a bunch anon
新しい服が欲しいです。

Does this make sense? Actually has the kanji for clothes now.

Will Japanese people think I'm dumb if I can't handwrite kanji?
>>
>>148368448
If you can't write 鬱 with your eyes closed you are basically a baby
>>
>>148368448
They won't give a shit.
They will call you jouzu if you can write them, but won't be as impressed as they would be if you could actually speak japanese without sounding like a retard
>>
>>148368706
I know they mostly won't care, but I mean in an environment where I'd be expected to write with some regularity, for example studying in a Japanese university as an exchange student or working in a Japanese company. Would they think I'm retarded if I couldn't write anything without checking my phone?

Depends. How old are the clothes you have now? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense needlessly wanting new clothes in this economy.

Well, yeah, some people will probably look down upon you as being "the foreigner" for not being able to write, some will be deluded by the idea that their language is so difficult that they wouldn't expect outsiders to be able to learn how to write, while others probably wont give a shit so long as it doesn't negatively impact them.

There is something about those thick banded eyelashes. Merely seeing them provides a small release of Oxytocin. Would there be any point of living in a world without cute girls?

Girls:
Chinese = Japanese = Korean
(Depends on what you mean japanese girls are EASILY the most socially autistic in which case koreans are probably at top then)

Language:
Japanese > Chinese = Korean

Pop culture:
Korean > Japanese >>>>>> Chinese
