Also let's look at his skill set

-Has the strongest fire-based jutsu
-Also happens to be the most skilled Genjutsu user, even has a jutsu where he can just point towards his opponent to be affected
-The only Susanoo(excluding Kakashi) with special snowflake abilities. A huge sword that can comes at you at butterknife speed and seals you on touch and a Magic Mirror that can negate any jutsu(including taijutsu).
-Speaking of taijutsu, he's actually pretty much a pro at that also and him throwing weapons is on Tenten's level of aim

Each and every jutsu in his arsenal can even give a jounin a bit of trouble, even if he only used one singular one the entire encounter. If it wasn't for the fact Naruto and friends all got a Rikudo powerboost at the end of the series, Itachi would be by far the most overpowered character.
