The real question is, can it do better than Fusion which tried to turn the show into Pokemon by adding in a shitton of satellite characters who were either undeveloped or caught and never used? Because from the first episode and concepts used in the show, it does feel like Fusion Season 4.

The first episode implies that Appmons can be collected and from what we know, like Fusion in this series Appmons become more powerful being combined with other Appmons.

The question then becomes can Appmon do this in such a way without creating a backlog of forgotten, shitty satellite characters that Xros had like Wisemon (only about 2 episode), Persiamon (almost never used) and Dracomon (only important in 1 episode).

Yeah, some guy datamined the demo and found the names and descriptions for the God Grade Appmon, 4 of them sounded straight up like the final evolutions of Gatchmon, Dokamon, Hackmon and Musimon.

Gatchmon -> Gaiamon: God of Knowledge, thanks to his ultimate search ability he knows everything about the world and humanity. His ability is creation.
Dokamon -> Poseidomon: Champion of the violent seas. His strong arms can control the oceans and boasts the strongest defense out of all the Appmon. His special ability is invincibility.

Just like with Xros Wars, or the Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokémon franchises, it doesn't get simulcasted because there's companies with contracts to license it in the west and do English dubs of said shows. They don't have any interest in having people know the original version, just their cut of it.

I do wonder if Appli Monsters anime will still be on Saban's hands or if Bandai will actually be smart this time and give it to someone competent.
If a localization is being done this soon, they intend to bring the franchise, with its games and other material. Saban sucks at cross marketing.

So just from taking a look at the appmon list, types and descriptions, I would guess that asuka's appmon will go:

musiamon -> mediamon -> entamon -> uranusmon, while eri's would go:

dokamon -> dosukomon -> oujamon -> death -> poseidomon

Rei's will go:

From Animedia: Eri appears next week, but it's just a cameo. Rei also appears next week because Roleplaymon's chip is a Seven Code Chip. Dokamon and Eri appear again episode 4, but in episode 4 Dokamon is just an Eri fanboy stalking her. He also respects Gatchmon as his aniki. Eri becomes an AppliDriver in episode 5. I don't mind having characters who don't have digimon. Having digimon not always mean more useful to a story.
The most iconic example is Tamers, Hirokazu and Kenta somehow were more relevant before they got digimon partners than after. Some series need that regular human character to balance things out. Since it looks like Appmon will take place mostly in the human world, I think that may be the case. So far they've been handled well

Yuujin is probably going to be relevant both thematically (since he is supposed to serve as a contrast for Haru's meekness) and for the story. I wouldn't be surprised if he is partially manipulated by Charismon and it turns out Charismon was his "Buddy Appmon" all along.
