Just finished watching this hot mess and Chiaki's death doesn't settle well with me. Izuru said he wanted to see if Chiaki's wish would come true.

What we got instead was a sentient, chameleon AI with her semblance doing it in her name. Granted, I like AI Chiaki, but Izuru didn't exactly carry out the last half of her wish. His plan was flawed from the start if real Chiaki was dead. Kodaka really didn't need her saying that last line. I can see why Chiakifags got baited so hard now. What's worse, is that he doesn't even give her proper closure, like a visit to her grave or the like. I'm not even a Chiakifag.

Gozu died way too early for him to make much of an impression on me, Chisa's character went nowhere contrary to what everyone thought, and Tengan being such a shitty mastermind undermines all of his cool scenes beforehand.

I honestly just wish Future Arc was a game instead. Too many characters fail to have much in the way of memorability or impact.

She was portrayed as the nice teacher who loved her students and had the hots for Munakata. Not much more than that. And then she's unceremoniously brainwashed and killed off, and that's the end of that. Her character isn't really fleshed out or grows from that at all, which is disappointing especially seeing as how she was pretty much one of the main characters of Despair, so many including myself expected her to play a bigger role.

She even has a plausible motive for being the mastermind, eliminating FF to ensure the lives of her brainwashed students. She doesn't need to be Ultimate Despair either.

And it wasn't really her that orchestrated FF's fall, that was all Tengan. She merely gave him the despair video, everything else was him. And even if you wanted to argue otherwise, having her brainwashed removes all agency from her character, reducing her to little more than a plot device.

He wrote the entire script for it but then passed it off the the gakkou gurashi guy to completely re-edit it for a TV format. It's almost a guarentee the dialogue got changed around massively and alot of scenes probably got trimmed way down cause kodaka likes to have alot of talking.

I'm convinced this re-editing stuff is the reason tengan's motives were so poorly explained. The original script probably dragged on with the explanation in typical DR fashion but i doubt it was anywhere near as roundabout, The only episode in the whole show kodaka wrote as a whole (dialogue, character actions, et cetera) was hope arc.
