Hibike Euphonium S2 discussion about relationships. Are Kumiko and Reina a true yuri couple now?
This scene pretty much confirms a non-het ending.
>show that Reina fakes a reason to visit sensei every morning
>end episode with her inviting Kumiko on a date and holding hands
They can't keep getting away with this. I don't even care which route they decide to go down, just pick one already so the shitposting will stop.
Seems like you guys were arguing about writing music or something in the last thread.
I wrote some, here you go.
>Reina's fantasizes about Kumiko sitting on her face while Sensei pumps her
In KyoAni's/the Author's defense, Reina's behaviour is romanticized a depiction of adolescence. Her "crush" on Taki-sensei and her "friendship" with Kumiko are all faucets of her try-hard personality and aren't necessarily exclusive of each other. And I assume that, as she grows up and matures, she'll eventually move on from both her pet crush and Class-S relationship.
whats this bitches problem
Okay, thank god. It's music, then.
Also, if you want your oboe qt to play it, be more precise with the rhythm! You have to either dot those eighth notes that follow the sixteenths or connect the second flag to the following note to specify that they are two sixteenths. Right now it looks like an introductory music theory problem where you have to "correct" a passage of written music to make all of the notes fill up a measure or beat.
Your writing is very pretty by the way, anon, especially for something scrawled onto a napkin.
I feel conflicted with the ep1. certain things are forgivable but the inconsistent VA performance on kumiko bugged me not to mention despite higher resolution it looked noticeably worse than s1. but the worst offender had got to be that despite being 50 mins long, its a very weak opening considering they're diving right into a more dramaesque direction
Kumiko's voice was fine. She's just more playful around Reina, before she was for the most part very nervous. The visual quality was worse probably because of Koe no Katachi, but I don't think it has a higher resolution.
>VA performance on kumiko bugged me
I thought that was just my imagination.
>She's just more playful around Reina, before she was for the most part very nervous.
And that's probably the explanation, though I'd have to rewatch to make sure.
there's no way this sounded playful. if anything it felt half-assed
Could've fooled me. If that manuscript were porn I'd have fapped to it.
Anyway, hope what I said was clear, but in case it wasn't, here's one possible "correction", and this is what I interpreted that as.
I want to cry with buchou
What are you talking about, retard?
This is Kumiko's new type of relationship with Reina
This is a similar scene in S1
And another with a comparable playful voice tone, but this time somewhat forced and distant since she's not really that close to Hazuki as she is with Reina.
This is usual Kumiko around people she feels comfortable with, from the first episode of S2. Same old cynical little fluffball as she was in S1
Her voice hasn't changed, just her relationship and the way he talks to Reina.
>mfw this show makes me want to play in an ensemble but I'm a 21 year old dude majoring in cs
She is friends with that one girl that is even more autistic than Reina, so she doesn't want to betray her. The autistic girl feels betrayed by the quitter, so Asuka feels like letting the quitter back in will cause drama, which would affect autistic oboe player, which would harm the band and their upcoming competition.
If you havnt at least fucked a girl you don't have a say in whether Kumiko and Reina are in love or not.
My name is Reina and I hate every single one of you. All of you are fat, retarded, no-lifes who spend every second of their day looking at stupid ass pictures and discussing stupid ass hetshit. You are everything bad in the world. Honestly, have any of you ever gotten any pussy? I mean, I guess it’s fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. This is even worse than jerking off to pictures on facebook.
Don’t be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I’m pretty much perfect. I was captain of the band ensemble, the best trumpet in Japan. What sports do you play, other than “jack off to hetshit fanfiction"? I also get straight A’s, and have a banging hot girlfriend (She just scissored me; Shit was SO cash). You are all faggots who should just kill yourselves. Thanks for listening.
Pic Related: It’s me and my bitch
Kumiko and Reina interactions were everything I hoped for and more. I could watch a whole show of just them casually and playfully interacting like this
They love each other, like great friends.
I don't think you completely understand what makes otaku do those things.
he is destroying 4chan little by little
it's impossible to even get only number captchas now as we used to
>Are Kumiko and Reina the new Nanoha and Fate?
They would need to move together, marry and adopt a little girl for that, and I don't see neither of those things happening. It's unlikely that KyoAni will make something concrete relationship-wise with this series, and even if they did it would be even less likely for them to move the story to the point where they're adults.
I'm always a little surprised by how similar we are with 2chan sometimes.
Hating Flute so much that she can't stand to hear her play.
I welcome the new artsy Hibikek.
Hopefully Takemoto and Ishidate's episode delivers because they are the most creative at the studio.
Reminder that Reina and Kumiko are not gay.
Yuri is never real outside of shitty hentai for degenerates and that is never love, just lust. Lesbians are not loved by anyone they know.
You are being made fools of and baited to literal death. Yuri is degeneracy. Women cannot love women. Kumiko is deeply in love with our boy Shuichi and Reina is in love with Taki's conductor's baton. They think about their straight crushes 24/7. You have no way out if this. Kumiko will get her boyfriend and you will suffer for supporting degeneracy. Mark my words. Mark my fucking words.
This is just the beginning of the yuri apocalypse. First this ship sinking, then the rest, and all that will remain are your degenerate doujins. Prepare.
There's no "you will"; yurifags have already lost. The novel series is over, and they're straight in it. Yuri never happens. Again:
THE NOVEL SERIES IS ALREADY OVER AND BOTH CHARACTERS ARE CONFIRMED STRAIGHT IN IT
The novels are "over" like Star Wars is "over".
What the fuck did this scene mean? It's so weird
They are delusional. Yuri is not real, ever.
Madoka despises Homura.
Sayaka doesn't love Kyoko.
Hibiki doesn't love Miku.
Yuuna doesn't love Togo thank god.
Nanoha doesn't love Fate.
Sakura has long abandoned Tomoyo.
Kumiko and Reina both want a dick and are adolescent, not gay.
All the girls in shows like Yuru Yuri, Sakura Trick, Yuyushiki and such are just in a phase and will all marry men.
I look forward to the s/u/icide when Kumiko kisses Shuichi.
>Reina marking her territory.
It's the opposite, you faggot. Reina was giving Shoe the opportunity to step up to the plate, but he wussed out. She has no sympathy for him because of that. But then she notes that Reina is completely indifferent to him, which surprises her.
In case you didn't know, Reina hard ships Kumiko x Shuuichi. They go into this in the novels a lot.
Reina was trying to tease Kumiko about Shuuichi, to get her back for teasing her about Taki, but surprisingly Kumiko was just indifferent. At a glance it may seem like it's encouraging yuri, but unfortunately it probably means Reina is going to work at making Kumiko realize her feelings for Shuuichi.
>In case you didn't know, Reina hard ships Kumiko x Shuuichi. They go into this in the novels a lot.
The problem with this is that the novels themselves ship KumixShoe. This isn't so much the case with the anime.
Weren't you banned again yesterday for spamming your copy pastas in the Hibiki threads? Sometimes I wish I knew how to ban evade so I could shitpost too, looks like fun.
It's replacing a novel scene where she bitches to Reina about Shuuichi not asking her and gets embarrassed when Reina asks whether she wanted him to, then.
It's just like how they changed Kumiko blushing and wanting to accept Shuuichi's invitation to "Eeh? Nande?". Anime Kumiko is not interested to the extent she doesn't even comprehend people thinking she might be.
it seems like that, but actually, Reina has developed the hatred of spineless guys. She tried to show Kumiko that she should not be serious in a relationship with them. Meanwhile, Reina is beginning to develop her passion with Kumiko, notice the handholding during the fireworks.
>Kumiko and Reina both want a dick and are adolescent, not gay.
In the LN, that's very likely, in the anime, we need to wait and see, the anime adaptation differs from the LN, and this is a thread about the anime.
>Madoka despises Homura.
>Hibiki doesn't love Miku.
There is no canon evidence for that, if you disagree you're welcome to post your proof, assuming you're familiar with their franchises.
>Nanoha doesn't love Fate.
They're married in canon, and there are other yuri characters in their franchise too.
>All the girls in shows like Yuru Yuri, Sakura Trick, Yuyushiki and such are just in a phase and will all marry men.
The first 2 have a wide yuri cast, and claiming you know how their relationships and sexuality will progress beyond the extension of the time period covered by their franchise is baseless speculation I have to say.
Shoe was trying to be suave and "accidentally" bump into Kumiko at the festival. You know, spend time with someone you like without the stress of actually asking them out and risking a rejection.
Reina saw what he was doing and made that confortntation because, as she said, she hates spineless guys. She would've approved if he'd had the guts to take the chance she offered him, but he didn't
Afterwards, Reina mistook Kumiko's familiarity with shoe to be indifference, which confused her because she expected Kumiko to be flustered after Reina saw right through the exchange. She doesn't know at this stage that those two have known each other for a long time
It makes me wonder, are they skipping over romance devcelopment because they don't plan to take the adaptation far enough to the point where we actually see it amount to something, or are they just going to make love erupt out of left field after having cut out all the leadup?
This argument against Reina having feelings for Kumiko (and vice-versa) is hilarious because all throughout Season 1 the show uses shots and scenarios specific to romantic context to portray their relationship. This is a visual medium and as such visuals and composition matter just as much as explicit dialogue, if not more, and KyoAni directors are not so amateurish to accidentally construct the show like they do.
There's also nothing mutually exclusive about their relationship and Reina liking Sensei. Bisexuality exists and people naturally become attracted to multiple potential romantic interests.
I deliberately avoided news and discussion leading up to S2 so I could go in with a fresh eye.
I guess that does make me a slowpoke, but I'm glad I did. Aside from Taki-sensei's modernist hairdo, the first episode exceeded my expectations across the board.
She's still in college and not cake status yet. She's obviously going to drop out of school, though, so she's going to be a NEET and eventually a NEET cake in a few years. Imagine how smelly she's going to get just laying around in bed all day reading magazines.
The rest Kumiko-Reina scenes I can pass off as close friends having a great time with each other but man that last one where she had such a passionate gaze on Reina then squeezed her hand while blushing like a red tomato as they watch fireworks was pretty fucking gay.
>Two feet shots in 1 episode.
Kyoani know what the people want.
How KyoAni able to get away with uncensored shit like this, but a goddamn nipple require beams of Godly light to rain down from the heavens to obscure it from my eyes?
A chick liker her, a NEET? yeah right
If she was a real person, she'd do the bare minimum/drop out to drink like a fish and do rails every night at some Jap nightclub, then spend a year traveling because "she wants to find herself" when in reality she just wants to get railed by some foreign dudes.
Someone like her is perfect marriage material when she gets done with all that.
It's yuribait, you stupid shitposters. They're straight in the source material, but there are yuri undertones to trick fat otaku NEETs into buying the Blu-rays.
You aren't wrong, but you are forgetting that the yuri focus is for a very significant part just Kyoani having fun for the sake of having, the source material wasn't THAT yuri, or at least that's what moonspeakers have said tons of times.
Her future sucker Japanese salaryman husband won't know the better and all the sexually deviant things she did in her young adult life trying to find herself.
Sad that Kumiko doesn't look up to her anymore after she stopped being "special" by quitting band to focus on studies, but in reality she had no major interest in studies. Now Kumiko had to replace her with "special" Reina. Kumiko is just going to look down on her even more after dropping out.
This, seriously. I honestly felt bad for him, he's a pretty cool guy, and in S1 he was more proactive than 99% of the anime boys. Now after tons of brutal indifference he even gets shat on explicitly, what the hell.
I just want to see more of Kumiko's sister outside of the house and interacting with other people besides Kumiko.
At least she's doing something, and just not staying in the house. The stereotypical NEET usually sits at home without any aspirations to do anything, much less leave the house to travel.
>anon doesn't want an experienced sexual fox in the sheets
You are missing out m8.
He's right. You have to marry a girl who got all of that out of her system already, so she's ready to settle down and be a perfect wife. If you marry a pure virgin, she's going to cheat on you eventually because she still craves the cock carousel experience that she missed out on.
>I just want to see more of Kumiko's sister outside of the house and interacting with other people besides Kumiko.
I'd like to see this too.
But I get the feeling she's just a normal gyaru, who likes to go shopping, do her girlfriends' nails and say that everything is "YABAKUNAI?".
Can't get over Reina's expression here. It's just so smug.
They didn't. They're on awkward terms and manage to avoid each other for most of the second novel. The very next line after he asked that was Kumiko musing that there's something wrong.
The anime is different. The novel had their fingers intertwined with each other hence the awkwardness but that never happened in the anime.
>The very next line after he asked that was Kumiko musing that there's something wrong.
She's pretty much indifferent towards him even Reina was surprised how much she didn't care.
Competitive school teams get really serious anywhere in the world. Teenagers handle losing very poorly and music tends to be over the top about it since it's such a competitive field full of bitter parents that want to make their children to live out their own fantasy by force.
>But I get the feeling she's just a normal gyaru
You think so? After all of those flashbacks of her teaching Kumiko how to play an instrument? I really hope not.
Then again I really don't know how high the sister is in the priority list of characters. She might never be fleshed out as a character
Homura loves Madoka in a platonic way.
Kyoko is fine with Sayaka not liking her back.
Miku is just being Miku.
Togo is just grateful to god that Yuuna is a hero.
Fate is a good friend to Nanoha.
Tomoyo is happy for Sakura and Sayoran.
Reina and Kumiko both just enjoy their adolescence.
All the girls in shows like Yuru Yuri, Sakura Trick, Yuyushiki and such exist for the pleasure of 3D guys and girls to have fun watching them.
I look forward to the shitstorm /a/pocalypse when Kumiko kisses Shuichi too, because it's gonna be fun either way no matter who wins.
By the way, One Punch Man is the strongest
We saw quite a bit of Kumiko's home life this episode, and there's that OP shot of her with loli Kumiko and shota Shuuichi, so I think we'll probably get an episode focusing on her. Her reasons for quitting could tie in thematically with Mizore.
>You think so? After all of those flashbacks of her teaching Kumiko how to play an instrument?
I'm not sure what you mean by bringing this up.
By the way, for clarification sake, when I said "gyaru", I of course meant one of those anime gyaru's who seem coarse at first but really have a heart of gold.
They have 12 episodes left to steer it back otherwise. Or perhaps a third season. And if it actually does end with an anime original ambiguous yuri-end, then that's not bad either.
Anime original content is good. Keeps people speculating and having fun. That's why Euphonium-threads are more enjoyable than Re:Zero-threads, even if Euphonium is a far more boring show by itself.
>so I think we'll probably get an episode focusing on her. Her reasons for quitting could tie in thematically with Mizore.
That'd be nice. I'm pretty interested in the character that is Kumiko's sister so any screen time is nice.
Ah I see. I thought you meant gyaru as in girl. I've never seen that word before.
Will they include vol 3 in this season? It's snowing.
>You know people hated Ribbon for being the forced drama character,
That wasn't forced at all, only some dumb memesters think that it was.
I didn't like this first epiode, though.
I kind of hate that this show reminds me of high school band. All those high schoolers in one room together is a drama shitshow.
They are definitely going to pull in Kumiko' sister into the "why people leave band" thing. It's amazing how if you play somewhere public so many people come up and say "I used to play in high school, wish I still could, oh well"
Are there any subs kicking around for the movie? I can only find raws.
Are there still any hetfags here who genuenly ship Shoox Kumiko and don't just do it only because they actually hate /u/?
It has been made so clear how Kumiko is so indifferent towards Shuichi, it's painful.
on top of that, the last scene between her and Reina is so fucking gay, that even surpasses the yuri echii stuff
On the other hand, I ship the 2 girls but absolutely don't believe anything is gonna happens.
What Kumiko is doing with Shoe is typical anime writing and you know how it'll end
>mfw Hibike finale movie directed by YamaGODDESS
I like how Kumiko's interactions with her mom are portrayed. She barely speaks any full sentences and most of the time it's just variations of "un." For some reason I can't recall whether certain characters in other shows respond to their parents casually like this or if they always say "hai," but the way its down in Hibike made it memorable for me.
What's the piece they were playing during pic related?
This post made me realize just how clean it was. Even just having her turn him could be read as denial, but instead the very idea of them as a couple just isn't something she registers. That's a total fucking shutdown.
Her name's Amika and he was 100% right.
>he gives the flower pin to Hazuki instead
>conveniently forgetting that shuichi is the one that calm kumikos' nerve at the competition
>conveniently forgetting that kumiko actively searching for shuichi at the station
/u/fags sure are delusional.
yes we talked about this yesterday in the stream thread that reached bump limit in one hour
thought they will fit both books in one season as book 2 is kind of short, also they are making double episodes
Got you bros. Shusomething x Kumiko is now inevitable.
Kumiko not being honest with her feelings toward Shuuichi has been a recurring theme throughout the show. If you truly think a yuri end is going to happen then you are delusional as fuck.
>Fate is a good friend to Nanoha.
>All the girls in shows like Yuru Yuri, Sakura Trick, Yuyushiki and such exist for the pleasure of 3D guys and girls to have fun watching them.
Those are wrong, the rest are more or less accurate.
The thing is the first season has established how familiar and comfortable they are with each other. Kumiko pretty much shows her true character whenever she interacts with shoe1 (just like when she was at home or with reina).
He asked her to go to the festival which she'd spent the entire episode explaining she didn't want to go to. It was done in the heat of the moment and she didn't fully realize what he was asking until after he'd ran off.
>shoe always wants to play trombone because kumiko sucks at it
Pretty cute I'd say.
Tthe people outside the show don't even think Kumiko is in love with him.
>Hanada: that depiction of childhood friends/partners is too strong
>Hanada: in the anime, they’re not lovers
Why does everyone hate wieners? He's literally our guy
He's obviously not gonna win the Kumikob Owl so I don't understand why people direct their hatred at them. If anything, he's a good catalyst for cute Kumiko moments.
I want to see more of KyoAni's Homu.
It feels like Ribbons' character design got cuter this season.
HQ Version: https://a.pomf.cat/ddafjq.webm
I have a feeling they are trying to get the voice actor to talk more like a normal japanese girl would. Cause what we here in anime isn't how normal japanese talk. Her speech patterns were much more akin to what I've heard regular jap girls sound like.
Is this some neural net shit someone on /g/ made, or am I just ignorant?
Top 10 Shocking Anime Deaths
>when she leans back in to sniff Kumiko's curls
It's the end of the third novel.
Dunno how they're going to get there, especially since they seem to want to expand the other first years' roles and Kumiko's sister, but doubtless Kyoani will discover a route.
Please enlighten me.
Gotou is annoying me. He's making a huge deal about whatever shit happened last year. Why the hell does he need to make the first years leave the room every time that bitch appears? That was fucking stupid and the little fat lover should bring his autism down a notch.
Holy crap. I didn't even notice that. Thought the pacing was slowing time down so much that it was stretching things out by a lot.
Goddamit. Really need to get a new mouse.
>Three seconds rule!
The way she said that... This should be illegal. I'd eat anything.
i think this is the most realistic answer.
their most successful anime is k-on; they most likely don't want to alienate k-on fanbase, which would be potentially turned off by a romance between the main girl and a guy.
>yuri is a strategic choice
>not because KyoAni actually likes it
"Life doesn't simply change when you move to a new school; it doesn't change because you are now in high school; it doesn't change even if you change your hairdo, or put on your skirts a bit higher than you used to or wish you had a slightly more attractive bosom. Kumiko starts to understand these simple things one by one and then she starts to realize that she has already started anew, with new friends, in a new club. But it simply wasn't enough. She needed a spark in her life. That spark turns out to be a rather reserved yet beautiful girl in the shape of Reina. Unaware of the fact that she is attracted towards Reina as she seeks for her company because Reina, in her eyes, probably possesses everything she ever yearned for. But then when she gets to know her more, and she realizes that Reina perhaps seeks her company as badly as she seeks hers, Kumiko begins to see herself as someone worthy of having a meaning just by existing. Probably that helps her to see herself in a new light. And everything that seemed dull, suddenly starts to look vivid. Reina gives the much needed spark for Kumiko and nothing plays a bigger role than their meeting that makes Kumiko realize that deep down, she always liked the boy who called her ugly."
So you're ignorant enough to not understand that there is no change regardless of whether or not they're a yuri couple.
The pivotal moment when all het delusion was crushed was when Reina acted surprised by Kumiko's indifference to her trashing on Shoe.
Now I'm not a Yuri day and I don't really believe there will be a Yuri end. But it's pretty clear that KyoAni doesn't want to pair Kumiko with Which I either.
Ideally it shouldn't, however /a/ decided to make yuri its new boogeyman, so a yuri victory, quite apart from its own charms, would wreck the asses of the autistic shits that started the meaningless hate-parade on it.
>since you put
What I put on it doesn't matter at all. If the series itself puts so much emphasis on it there is nothing strange or wrong in being interested. It's part of the contents of the series, and it's something Kyoani put a lot of works in, even changing the source material, of fucking course people are talking about it.
Stop being such a freaking idiot.
What is even the point of having several scenes where they stare longingly into each other's eyes, nestled warmly in each other's embrace, blushing and wistful if the ending is just "I love shoe"?
It'd be like if at the end of Return of the Jedi, after the death star is destroyed, Lea turns to Han and confesses "I love C3P0". Then the movie just cuts to black.
You can't spend an entire show building up romantic tension only to ignore it at the end. I don't give a fuck if she gets with the shoe, but if they never acknowledge what they've done already and just throw in an "I love shoe" at the end of the series with absolutely no development or buildup, I'll be disappointed.
All of Kumiko and Reina's character development happens because of their relationship. Not to mention that the most visually stunning scenes are with them. Is it weird that people want to explore/talk about their relationship?
See you're completely moving away from your point because you have no clue what you're saying. Explain to me how, in the current situation based on the last episode, anything would change if they were a yuri couple, which KyoAni didn't make obvious. IN fact, assuming they aren't, how would they make it obvious that they actually are one?
What the fuck was her problem?
>You can't spend an entire show building up romantic tension only to ignore it at the end.
Then you need to lurk and watch/read more anime and mango. This wouldn't be the first time, not that I care. Which is the point.
>Explain to me how, in the current situation based on the last episode, anything would change if they were a yuri couple
I have no idea what you think you're asking. If they were a couple, they the difference is the main characters being a couple instead of not being a couple.
Fluff being constrained by hair ties, which is evil and wrong. The fluff must be free, always.
If they are gay, it completely changes their motivations for wanting to be special. If they're gay, then they are better for the sake of each other; if they aren't, then they would doing so by their own drive, not others.
Dear Lord this is even gayer than this
I don't think that's necessarily true. I think their mutual desire to succeed is what they like about each other. They aren't trying to be better for each other, they're supporting each other in their own personal journey to get better.
That phrase is an old meme about yuri. Nobody actually thinks that it's "pure" in terms of "innocent of sexuality", nor should it be. The suggestive picture should've indicated as much to you.
Aaaand wrong gif. Sorry about that.
I just want these two to kiss already.
>if they aren't acting like a couple, how would they act if they were?
I don't know. But even if it were the case that they'd treat each other in exactly the same way as they would as friends - not entirely unrealistic, since they'd have moved into a relationship from friendship - it still changes the context in which people look at those actions.
They don't have to be gay to be spurred on by each other. They are bandmates going for the gold after all. Wanting to improve for yourself or for others aren't conflicting motivations either, they're often complementary. Them being gay is just icing on the cake.
>Wanting to improve for yourself or for others aren't conflicting motivations
But which one is stronger? If they're gay, then obviously doing it for the sake of others is the stronger emotion. If they aren't, then they're doing it for themselves.
I have a thing for cute girls in yukata's.
This was a good episode.
Also Asuka is still best girl.
Whats her deal? Is she pregnant?
> If they're gay, then obviously doing it for the sake of others is the stronger emotion
What the hell? Being in a relationship doesn't mean your all actions relate to your partner.
