I know this thread is shielded by a lot of bitching but my genuine points is just. Why do people watch this show? Is it enjoyable to watch a character be abused by his sister and surroundings the whole time?

For example I liked Evangelion a lot because the characters changed and their behaviour was different by the end of it all. They grew stronger and more mature. This show just present a plot and by the end of it almost nothing has changed.

I liked Spice and Wolf because there was a genuine journey and a nice atmosphere. The characters had conflicts but they solved them and came out stronger together.

The worst part of it almost nothing changes you feel empty by the end. A little bit of the next season just shows him and his sister having the same relationship. I see reaction pictures a lot with Kirino. I see people liking the show but I can’t wrap my brain around why.

The people who like Kirino tend to be incest/tsundere fans for one, so those people would like her regardless of her character except for these two traits. For those who actually like her character, they might find unmoral characters more appealing, especially as a heroine. Occasionally there are the waifubaiters who just care about appearances and will romanticize any scene of the girl just because they like her design.

Your criticisms are all accurate to the series. Kirino has multiple personality flaws and really does come off as a generally horrible person, but that is what the series is for - character development so that she can be better off. (just warning you, she doesn't change nearly enough to redeem many of the negative traits/actions she's done, but if you take the show at design value only you might appreciate it a bit more)

OP here. binged the whole second season.
The second season genuinely made me laugh at some points and I was following it emotionally as well although realising what direction the show was going at the 4th episode.

All in all an okay anime. I know it's an oldish one but I never got around to watch.

Kirino's character is easily understood now, I can forgive her for being a bitch because I understand why. I actually wanted them both to be happy with each other in the end. Good job on making me root for the incest story huh.

However the ending was very disappointing. I don't really mind the whole "incest" thing because it's an anime so whatever but don't be gay and go half way through with it.

I’m happy I finished it though.

However, after doing some research found out why S1 ends so confusingly, and so before consuming S2 I rewatched S1 with the true route episode 12 and the other ONA's. Kind of like the way the fsn VN makes you fall for Arturia but feelings for Rin slowly creep up on you by Fate route's conclusion, I found that on the rewatch of OreImo S1 that I was growing fonder of yungRino and then when she just leaves for America w/o saying anything to Kyou (contrary to the botched tv E12) my heart let me know who true best girl was because I felt Kyousuke's pain so sharply.

Rino is objective best girl but Rurifags shouldn't fret because her favorite anime, MASCHERA, is a Code Geass parody and thus S2 was all justasplanned.jpeg.
