and this is by far the worst season I've seen.

Back up your claim
>>
>>148165218
wow OP, you must have enjoyed some really shitty shows then

this season may not be GOAT
but it's not shit either
>>
>>148165542

I've watched the first episode of everything so far. None made me want to watch the 2nd episode. WWW.Working got close, but it didn't have the magic of the original one.

Half of the anime so far are 4-8 minutes junk that almost made me stop watching mid-way. I still hope that we'll have something at least half of Mob Psycho 100 or Re:Zero, but so far I'm starting to give up.
>>
b-but hibike
>>
Nice blog fag. I've been subscribed since 2001 so I think I'm an expert when it comes to this: your taste is shit.
>>
How did people download anime, circa 2006?
>>
>>148169532
Downloading rmvb files from some ancient forum or livewire.
>>
>>148169532
>>148169765
2006 had mp4s I believe.
Not that I remember very clearly.

I think the filesize was still 700Mb divided by 3?
>>
>>148169532
torrent off baka-anime or anime suki, if my memory serves I started using BT in 2003 or 2004. Before that I used IRC, I guess.
>>
>>148169532
Torrents already existed in 2006 but with more variety in the trackers, it wasn't all concentrated on Nyaa back then. IRC was also obviously a thing.
Subs were either hardsubbed avi or softsubbed mkv in low resolutions.
>>
>>148165218
I've been watching anime since 1998, this doesn't look as bad as even the previous season.
At least there is one watchable show, Gundam IBO 2.
>>
>>148169532
same way I still get it today, xdcc
what do newfags use, youtube?
>>
>>148170302
Trying way too hard
>>
>>148169858
mkv is from 2002...
>>
>>148165663
With second seasons, you might want to try watching the first season once more before the new episode to get you in the mood.
>>
Thanks for answering, oldfags. I wasn't around back then, but I don't want that era to be forgotten when you guys die alone.
>>
>>148169532
Tokyo tosho
>>
This Winter was really bad and this season has already topped that.
>>
>>148170583
Y-you, too...
>>
>>148165218
>I've been watching anime since 2001
That's exactly what someone that have been watching anime since 2015 would say.
>>
>>148169532
Tokyotosho was already around back then
>>
TT was there. Sometimes I use IRC bots when I couldn't use torrent and back then you can get a lot of raws with winny/share, which is usually even faster than torrent.
>>
Everything new that has aired so far has been mediocre or shitty. Only stuff I am enjoying is Hibike S2 and Natsume S5.

I wouldn't say it's the worst season though.
>>
I don't understand why anyone would use anything else than xdcc bots.
They're much faster (I get 4MB/s right from when I press enter), more reliable, less of a hassle to find, and give you the file start to finish which means you can watch it as it downloads.
>>
>>148171264
Erm, because Usenet is all that, plus you can script it.

So I can start watching immediately, because my server downloaded it all hours ago.
>>
>>148169532
Torrents were well around in 2006.
>>
>>148171592
Very few ISPs still provide free access to binary newsgroups, and those that do only give access to recent data. So you need to pay extra for the service.
Even if you pay extra, it's still not very good for anything that isn't recent, while IRC bots are very good at archiving.

Plus newsgroups tend to be terrible to search through in my experience, and since the file is compressed and split in 50+ parts you need the full file before you can start watching it. "Downloaded it all hours ago" is not an argument, sorry. Maybe it was just released or you only released just now you wanted to download it.

And IRC is much more scriptable than newsgroups anyway, I built my first fully-workable IRC bot implementation with a fully working DCC transfer mechanism when I was 12 and could barely program.

you only realized*

>>148165218
The previous season was pretty shitty too.

It's kinda fitting. Now that 4chan is dying, anime is dying too.

OP's been watching first episodes since 2001.
>>

Each fansub had its own torrent tracker.
There were indexer aggregators like tokyotosho and animesuki.
>>
>>148165218
I gotta agree that this season is shit. Funny to imagine that the best anime of this year were all from spring.
>>
>>148165218

You couldn't have been watching seasonal anime in 2001 unless you were living in Japan.
>>
Fall of last year fucking sucked. I only watched one show that wasn't a sequel to something.

This season is much better.
>>
>>148165218
Early 00's were so full of shit, bland and ugly most of the time, you should be overwhelmed with all this glorious shows airing now.
I watched anime specifically since 2000's too and I'm having 26 shows to watch this season (all the sequels included).
It's not anime, anon, it's you.
>>
best show this season?
>>
>>148175268
>Funny to imagine that the best anime of this year were all from spring

You mean winter?

Spring had Sakamoto and Anne Happy, but rest was nothing special. And the best show from summer was puppetshit.
>>
>>148176975
You should probably wait until Saturday when most shows have at least one episode out.

Or wait until most shows have more than one episode out.
>>
I really tried to enjoy Hibike, but I don't get it. It's just so incredibly boring to me. Not in a relaxing kind of way, just plain boring.
>>
>>148169858
Avis.
>>
>>148169532
bookmark 30 fansub groups and get their torrent, ddl parts, or irc. i got bullied for not using irc correctly ;__;

I don't think I have anything from 2006 still left on my current harddrive, but here's part of my Soul Eater folder from 2008. Downloaded whatever the first fan sub I found on TT that week.
>>
>>148177844
It is boring. Only people watching it are hardcore kyoani fans.
>>
>>148177077
>Spring had Sakamoto and Anne Happy
Both of them were shit. Sakamoto's gag were terribly downplayed. Even Kiznaiver were better than that.
Spring had Tonkatsu DJ, Luluco and Tanaka-kun.
Summer had ReLIFE, Ne Game, Mob Psycho, Amaama, 91 days and many other shows that may be not good but definitely enjoyable. You need to watch more.
>>
>>148171264
>I don't understand why anyone would use anything else than xdcc bots.
Because as soon as a bunch of people get onto the bot, it is dead slow and people have to wait in queues. There is no upscaling help which torrents give as the entire download bandwidth comes from the bot itself. The reason why IRC does work is because torrents and streaming handle almost all the download bandwidth needs of the hundreds of thousands of anime downloaders.

IRC was a real mess until torrents removed most of the simultaneous traffic.
>>
>>148179216
>You need to watch more.

Watched all of them. You need to get better taste.

At least I'm actually enjoying anime instead of whining like a faggot you are.

It's just not your kind of season. 4 magica girl shows, Wixoss, Eupho and Brave Witches. If we got new seasons of YuYuYu and/or Symphogear and/or GuP this season would literally be perfect.

We have this thread every season

That being said I burnt myself out this Summer and still have shows that were apparently well received like New Game and Amaama to Inazuma like half finished, so I'm not too into the Fall mindset yet. I'm not really sure what to watch but I'm sure there will be at least something.
>>
The episodes of anime that aired today are better than all of the anime from 2001 combined.
>>
You win, I laughed.
