What are the odds there'd be a trail of icycles falling in such a way that you could run ripple through it that it'd create a direct line between Joseph and Ceaser.

Part 3 isn't a shining example of a part without asspulls, but it had less asspulls than part 2 did. The issue with part 3's fights were that most of them relied on just the Stands punching or stabbing or shooting harder to win, but then we got some actual great and creative fights and encounters like Oingo Boingo, D'arby brothers, etc. The entire Vanilla Ice vs Polnareff + Iggy fight was much more tense and enjoyable than any fight in part 2.

Joseph's wittiness was funny but it's not something that would have lasted, and honestly it killed a lot of the tension in any fight because you always knew Joseph would somehow use Hamon to asspull a victory because the ability is very undefined and because he's the ebin ruse man.

You're correct there actually, it did make everything tense when Kira came into the mix with an ability that pretty much countered Josuke's ability. The way Shigechi was blown up all of a sudden and couldn't be healed was a perfect example of tension being built with Kira because there was finally a counter to Josuke's ability. The fights were much more tense with Kira because you knew how easily he could kill someone and it actually made sense unlike Hamon.

Yeah, 'perfect medic' characters are kind of offputting, and it certainly was sometimes in 4, but where you have a lot of MC deaths like in 5, and even more in 6 (where they have 3 healers, jolyne, ff, and anasui), I don't think it cheapens fights. Hell, I actually like that Giorno being unable to heal was a huge part of the B.I.G fight, it made that in particular pretty terrifying.

I'm not saying Jotaro didn't care about Kakyoin, but he had more scenes and more closeness with Polnareff.

They showed a lot of gentleness and amiability in the Oingo Boingo arc (one-sided since it wasn't the real Jotaro, but Polnareff evidently felt close enough to Jotaro to bug him about the hand-thing and who could eat the orange faster and the cigarette-trick) teamed up for Alessi, Anubis and the start of DIO, went out of their way to try and save each other fighting DIO and arguably succeeded, and then had that emotional hug at the end.

Polnareff sneezed in Jotaro's face (unwittingly saving his life) and never even got grumped at, and stole and rode a motorbike with him. Kakyoin and Jotaro may have been closer than was shown, but if their friendship was largely off-screen it's not going to seem as important.
