Most of the good animators were funneled off to work on DSoD, so Arc-V suffers in the visual quality department (and YGO's got a history of QUALITY to begin with).

Hikokubo is clearly capable of writing duels that don't use Strictly Worse Waboku #79, but also clearly phones in half of his damn duel writing. Whether this is because Konami's not paying him enough, bad deadlines, or just him not feeling it anymore is unknown.

The writing staff had their show extended an extra 50 episodes beyond what they'd originally planned, and likely didn't get a proportionally extended budget, meaning they had to write 50+ episodes without any of the characters voiced by more expensive VAs (Shun gets KO'd on a regular basis, Reiji doesn't fucking talk for 20-30 episodes at a time, Yuri barely gets screentime, Mieru is cut even though she was probably going to be cut anyway, Yugo and Yuto go long periods of time without being onscreen despite being bigger players in the plot than the MC, ect). It's to the point where Konami likely had to cut into something else just to afford the high school Sci-Viz project that passes for our current OP because we have nothing left in the Arc-V budget and they just want to save any leftover money for the next series.

People say that the budget is just a meme, and to a point it is, but Konami's always been completely retarded when it comes to business and money, so I doubt that there's absolutely no truth to the budget jokes.

Looking at it on the surface, it would appear that they blew the majority of their budget on the beginning 50 episodes of the show. Whether this was because Synchro was more of a drain on the wallet than they expected or because they just spent a lot in the short term is hard to tell.

This is correct. I have waited many months for someone to get close enough for me to post this. DSOD did NOT take any budget from Arc-V; rather, Arc-V was given a set budget at the very beginning, which is why they were able to higher expensive VAs and have better than average animation for a shounen series, as well as more investment in movement and color with Action Fields. However, Konami decided close to the wire to not end Arc-V at the same time DSOD would be in theaters, but instead extend Arc-V for a year longer.

The reason for this is that Arc-V had already been given a budget, and the superiors of Konami didn't care to adjust that budget despite extending them a year, so they could "save money" in management terms. Also, by waiting a year, it meant that the revenue garnered by DSOD could be put into the next series -- which is why you don't see any improvement with Arc-V, because its budget is set.

This has nothing to do with "stealing budget" or "abandoning a series", but everything to do with management stupidity. The Synchro Arc feels entirely inconsequential because it very much is inconsequential, as it was stretched out longer than necessary until DSOD ended, and the plot was allowed to resume.

I knew Hiimika couldn't be trusted when we got that flashback about how she brainwashed the fuck out of Reira but I was already suspicious of her due to how she talks to her son compared to how Yoko talks to Yuya.

The strangest thing is that Yusho is nowhere to be found in these spoilers. Shit's getting real, his son is in trouble and there's a duel going on between his former buddy and his own son yet he's not taking action? The Hiimika reveal should make him instantly worry about Yoko, you know, his wife and his partner and assuredly best friend, Shuzuo as well considering that his daughter is about to be used as a world ending battery. I would imagine the story between Z-Arc and Ray is pretty complicated.
