This show started off so good but after the fallen angel got captured and turned into a 6 year old the show took a turn for the worse. I liked it until the end though but zombie loli was the only character that became better as the show went on. This might have been one of my favourite anime shows if it had stayed as good as the first 5 episodes were until the end but it finished as just an avarage show with a lot of wasted potential.

If they wanted a male character they could've just used the self-insert Hero/Knight you play as. Like they are doing for Gran in Granblue Fantasy, all they had to do is put MC in a suit of armor with a helmet covering his face, and give him a few speaking lines as he does his job and help out the trove of characters in many different adventures with no real story to follow. (Which would've been fine too as an anime)

Don't skew his perceptions with your subjective views. It got better as it went on. Rave all you want about episodic shenanigans, but nothing replaces a tight plot with a grandiose payoff like Bahamut has.
