I put off watching this show too long because something about the artstyle really didn't sit well with me. It looked like an anime where you watch six clones of NEET anime John Arbuckle. I seriously regret writing off this show as long as I did, it's honestly one of my top three favs of all time. Hilariously, the few idol-related skits are some of the most accurate portrayals of idol/wota culture I have seen in anime.(Even leaving aside the usual mean-spirited nature of the show)

How good is it as a comedy? I'm not against trying it but the somewhat unusual art style and flood of yaoi on the booru made me put it off.
I think I've heard it compared to Nichijou but that was just a disappointment because it tried so hard to be funny and blew its budget on animation instead of writing.

In my opinion, Osomatsu's comedy can be pretty hit-or-miss, especially on the first watch when you aren't invested in the characters. That said, its hits are usually home runs, enough that I had an easy time forgiving its flops.

I don't really see the Nichijou comparison. I watched a few episodes of that one and decided it wasn't for me. Osomatsu-san, however, had me curious about seeing more by the end of episode three.
