Problem with Japanese fantasy is that we got way too many deconstructions, even deconstructions of deconstructions, when we didn't even have much of the straight thing.

Think on it, we have been seeing parodies and "your typical fantasy story WITH A TWIST" since the early 90s but we barely saw the "typical fantasy story". Well, we saw it but not in anime, in other media like games or lit.

For my part I really like how Kumo Desu Ga handles the "magic skill gap" concept, because there's no real advantage in understanding modern science, but rather from analyzing the principles of magic instead of relying on the World system and treating your skills as an appliance. The massive improvement Ronant shows, after being humiliated and spending just a little time observing Kumoko, even shows that this type of skill is something any of the natives could have picked up if they'd just approached it with a more analytical mindset. Deconstruction: Character has enough HP left to get hit one more time. He is aware of this and hot blooded. The opponent is also aware of this and also aware that if the character doesn't die with that last hit they themselves will die. The character then receives a random critical hit and the character dies. Everyone else is shocked, including the opponent. The rest of the party uses a phoenix down and it works despite the plot demanding the character to have died dramatically right there.

Just the usual plot of "all people in the world are stupid and have creativity of an average amoeba just so that the MC may look like a genius". And the civilization advancements happen apparently once in a few centuries, probably by pure luck because it's never explained.

The novel isn't as bad as some other isekai, but it's not good either. At least it's not 99% dialogues, so I could read it without throwing up.

Funny thing is, some MCs don't even try to antagonize the douchebags further. They just ignore them until said douchebag does something like try to fuck over the MC or something. Even worse if the MC is travelling with a woman, then every fuckbag in the city wants to rape her and kill him. I mean, I get why the author does this sides to fellate the MC's awesomeness. Its to show that weak kids like Japanese MCs can't exist for more than a day in the world of cultivation, and that you gotta be an absolute badass to thrive. But its still extremely annoying to read again and again.

Yeah that's true, I'm just gripping about repetitive plots. I mean, sometimes its enjoyable to see an arrogant douchebag get his face pummeled in but then afterwards the MC gets chased from heaven to earth by his clan til he gets stronger begins to piss you off, especially if it happens more than once in the story.
