Bleach had a fully realized setting, compelling villains and entettaining fights. The characters were shallow as all hell on account of there being so many of them, but at least Kubo had the decency not to turn them into caricatures unlike Fairy Tail. In FT how you see Natsu/Lucy/Erza/etc reacting to things on episode 5 is exactly how they will still be reacting to things on episode 250. FT characters have one trope that gets played up at each and every single opportunity for literally hundreds of episodes/chapters.

Fairy Tail also has had absolutely no interesting villains or long-form arcs, its setting has always been an afterthought and the battles are god awful because the mangaka is lazy as fuck and couldn't be bother to even try developing an interesting battle system.

As stupid as Bleach was, it was leagues ahead of anything FT has ever done.

FT is battle shounen for kids too stupid to watch porn.

The only edge bleach has is that the fillers were better and it didnt go on a 2+ year idk what fest over in naruto land. The fillers were unbearable. In terms of manga though naruto wrapped up pretty nicely. Far better than the last arc of Bleach.

Your ending has a huge impact on how well written your manga is as a whole. Even if bleach had some sort of edge over Naruto storywise it was thrown down the shitter with the ending. You can't even tell if half the characters are dead or alive. It's ridiculous

Kishi art is literally amazing though, no amount of cherry picking will change that, also naruto was consistently interesting people stop caring about bleach right after the soul society arc.

Kishi was also able to consistently build character dramas and had a pretty great climax by the end of it all.

Naruto is by no means a bad manga, yes it would have been decent overall if they cut out the third war all together but it's fine for what it was.

Bleach was great until they went to mexico. FT has always been shit but it was good shit up until the end of tenrou island.

Bleach had the SS arc, and some parts of the hueco mundo arc and quincy war arc were actually good.

There is a difference between taking something too seriously and getting totally betrayed on strictly ALL all levels and after YEARS of following a story.
The fans have been patient, indulgent, they even forced themselves to find humor in things that were perfectly acceptable reasons to drop the manga.
Now see the result. An author who saw his sales drop so badly that he was asked to end his manga, and chose to punish who? The fans. Not even his publishers because they have been making LOTS of money till now, but the most concerned and faithful till the end: the fans.

I think FairyTail has pretty much 1-2 good fights per character, with a few exceptions, overall before the fights essentially became the same thing each arc. Erza being the worst offender relying on hot pants so often.

My main problem with Bleach is that they relegated Ishida and Chad to be jobbers while almost all the Captains and some Shinigami (Bald dude and Rukia for example) fight.
