Basically, Grimgar was about showing how dreadfully dull, boring, unspectacular, harsh and shitty life would be for your typical modern 20th/21st century person from a first world nation in a fantasy world as depicted in a typical standard Advanced Dungeons & Dragons or Wizardry setting, with no amenities like modern toilets and instant good food.

Except it's not. Most isekai take a lighthearted, comedic approach to the story telling, even if the plot has serious elements in it. Grimgar does not. It has a heavy atmosphere and sets up incredible tension that you find lacking in other isekai stories.

I wouldn't put any hopes for it, because one of the more influential production committee member was a music label, and the music band it tried to promote through the anime apparently didn't sell their songs that well, so it's highly unlikely that they're gonna co-finance the anime further for it.
With one sponsor less, that means that the rest have to shoulder more of the costs by themselves.

On the other hand, when reading the data at someanithing.com, apparently, the sales of the anime discs themselves look rather okay though, so perhaps a second season can and will still happen.

Coincidentally I just finished binging this show.

Was really good, one of the best isekai shows I've ever seen. The somewhat bland character designs for about half the cast didn't even bother me, as it felt like it fit the setting.
It's a realistic fantasy world, of course you don't have flashy armor or weapons or ridiculous hairstyles.
I think it started out really slow, and could have spent some time in the first episode fleshing out the characters a little more.
Of all of them, only Hal, Mary, and Ranta really got fleshed out with actual development.
I'm glad that of all the characters they chose to flesh out Ranta a bit because holy shit, my opinion of him turned around real fast in the end.
If we get a season 2, I'd like to see the rest get properly fleshed out and developed.

I was pleasantly surprised by this show, I went in expecting a shitty SAO clone and actually ended up enjoying it.

People usually complain about the initial slow pacing the show had, but I think that it was the best there. I like seeing the day-to-day interactions between the main characters, which is something that's usually overlooked.

Speaking of characters, surprisingly I liked all of them, including the side characters and Ranta. While I did want to punch him a couple times, I found him to be quite humorous, and I appreciated having a character that had a different opinion on doing things. He wasn't really ever wrong in what he said.

My two biggest flaws of the show are that Yume, that qt mage girl and the tank weren't really developed. Granted they were there, but they were mostly side characters.

Also fuck that fight with Death Spots. Seriously, in ep 12 you can just see where they ran out of money.
