On one hand the art is absolutely gorgeous and I guess that's because Miura has so much time to draw each chapter, but on the other hand it's ridiculous that he takes around a month to make each chapter. Then there's the fact that there are hiatuses.

The main reason why all of this is worrying is that Berserk doesn't seem close to being finished, so not only will Miura die before he manages to finish it, but so will every fan of it.

He should get married and have a son that will continue his legacy.

He should at least have a rough sketch of the complete story in his will.

So how did you get into Berserk?

It's the only manga i've read.
I know i'll get some flack for this: i had heard about it for years but it being a manga/anime made me ignore it completely, until someone pointed out to me that Demon's Souls and Dark Souls had numerous references to it.

I was ready to drop it completely after i saw how edgy Guts was in the Black Swordsman arc, but just as i was about to drop it the Golden Age started and i got hooked.

Demon/Dark Souls has more than just references to Berserk, they are straight up inspired Berserk and emulate it. The way i think it works is that only people who "get involved with demonkind" end up there, as stated by Slan in the Count chapter. So the Band is definitely there.
I think that prior to the World Transformation, people who died of natural causes ended up elsewhere, but now that the world is all kinds of messed up they end up in the maelstrom because the transformation happened due to demonkind.

Have a weird thing with watching anime. I got years without touching it to let the overyhypes and fandoms build so stories finish off (funny in this circumstance). Watched Kill la Kill after not watching shit forever. Liked it, fuck you. Tried AoT and not bad. When it flipped the script from a light fantasy into what the eclipse does, I was sold. Completely. The arc overall is so gradual into that clusterfuck, it blew my mind.

So, thank or mock me, I'm buyfagging it up. Working on collecting physical copies and reading while holes are being filled. Just now up to Griffith's rescue Vol-wise. Itching because I've watched the first anime (still recommend the movies to newcomers b/c of the pacing) and now I'm watching the current series. Current series is slightly painful because of the animation but I'm so caught up in the world. This is like one of the times I wish I could go back and relive going through some other thing I love except I've never Berserk before.

This has been dragging for a few months since I'm actually paying for everything. Including /toy/s. Got BotH Guts. Latecomer raped for Berserk armor Figma even though I'm nowhere close to that. Got BS on the way. Amazon has huge gaps in stock so I'm having to wait until they do whatever magic they're doing to fill the orders at retail. This has been going on about half a year or more. After watching the latest episode of Berserk (2016), I can't help but realize that even with how shitty it is, and how poorly done it is, it's legitimately a solid 5 or 6 out of 10 just because it's Berserk.

Honestly Miura needs to wrap things up before the manga becomes a Simpsons/Spongebob scenario. It's already been losing steam for a decade and Miura's focus and tastes have shifted drastically over its 20+year run. Right now the ending as it is will probably be radically different than what it would have been ten years ago or so, and in ten years even more so from now.

It's sort of been milked too long to be preserved as a perfect manga but it's not at all too late to go down as a great one with runs of perfection.

Skull Knight is a tortured creature. Clearly, he maxed out all the skills he can learn long ago, but sadly it wasn't enough. He couldn't reach the God Hand and his time appears to be up. He's trying to make a difference with better gear, but nothing works out.

It's a bit weird and it can't be explained with a one dimensional level of power. At the arts of combat, SK is several life times of experience ahead of Guts, and it shows every time he one hit kills the small fries. But whatever happened to him after donning the Berserk Armor, it prevents him from being a lethal threat to the bad guys. He is a damn powerful, but he can't even kill Zodd. Somehow, I have the feeling that Guts has the potential, even though he's not able to do that yet.
