The translator's not wrong, though.. Certain words do lose their meanings when translated.

Still, that's a pretty dumb way to make a 'translation'. Surely they could have handled it a bit better. Couldn't they have simply used more polite and humble words to reflect the japanese ones? Just because the translator doesn't know the english 'alternative' to those words doesn't mean they don't exist, even if one has to use a phrase.

Yes, some meaning would be changed, but you could simply have a TN saying that she is speaking in a rather polite and respectful tone, and the guy is speaking in a "who the fuck are you" tone.
