I'm tired and it's been a while since I read YYH so I can't express it well but when I said artistic charm I meant it literally. Most of Togashi's paneling techniques such as where there's abrupt movement between panel to panel or page to page to surprise the reader or express speed, or using a different art style / extreme shading to convey a tone shift weren't retained in the anime. I don't like the HxH anime but they tried to keep some of those in there. In YYH, not so much, mostly because it's an older show and the budget was probably not too high. A lot of the chapter covers are really cool too and capture the novelty of 90s suburbia, but by nature those don't belong in anime.

Also a few strikes on the anime for stuff like Two Shots and the ending not being adapted at all.

The vast majority of anime adaptations are vastly superior to the manga.

99% of manga is nothing but cheap, rushed out the door doodles that almost always go off-rails due to publishers forcing the mangaka to keep the story going far longer than originally planned, or forcing the mangaka to make changes to make the work more marketable, or mangaka incompetence or just outright cancelation.

Most manga looks like complete shit and the amount of mangaka in the industry who can draw action sequences is laughably low.

Anime is made by teams of people and they breathe life into manga by way of colors, animation, voice acting and direction.

Manga = cheap doodles made for the lowest common denominator who prefer quantity over quality.

Anime = made for premium consumers, the true fans who are willing to pay top dollar for product that takes lots of time and man power to make.
