One final point I forgot to mention. Frontier was a much more mature ton to it's story with the clash between song, war, and the desire for peace. Which, as a result, ended up focusing towards a much older audience surprisingly.

Delta on the other hand has fully embraced the idol shtick. The target audience seems to be younger than the last series.

I think this episode the possibility that Hayate's own emotions are part of the problem of him going out of control. Early on (episode 9?) they explained that fold bacteria enhance certain emotions which causes victims to go berserk when they go VAR. Hayate's going out of control has been portrayed to be pretty much be the same sort of issue as VAR, with images of blue neural pathways going pink, and even VAR veins appearing on his face.

Anyway, Just as Hayate goes out of control in this episode, and we get the familiar blue to pink strands imagery, we also see two very brief flashes of what I guess are Hayate's thoughts. One is Messer going VAR previously, and the other is Freyja in episode 20 saying she would quit singing so that Hayate could fly. Seems to suggest that his worry that he'll end up going VAR like Messer, and that this will then affect Freyja negatively, may in part why it to happened to begin with. So yeah, resonance won't be solved before they sort out their feelings on these issues.

Technically it was Freyja's song that brought Hayate back to his senses. Mirage's robo hug was what made Freyja come to her senses, Hayate was not calming down with Mirage's rove hug alone. If you watch the scene again, Freyja's song changes when she sees Hayate and Mirage's lives are in danger. When she starts singing differently, Hayate becomes enveloped in her light and his "var" goes away.

So technically, both of them helped "cure" him, I guess.
