Sadly. They're not dead completely, but they're close to it for newer shows. I remember the fun fuckery with gg's Jojo subs from 2012. Seasonal series don't really have that anymore, though offical subs aren't a bad thing either.

On the other hand, fansubbers are still subbing older, unlicensed series. Movies/Ova still need subbers too, as does a newer series every once and awhile.

Maybe I'm just trying to defend my hobby, but I don't think fansubbing is dead just yet.
