There are other build strategies to reach the same amounts of power while remaining n/a, but that specific engine was based off a group a engine built for suzuki, of which very few were made. A new engine could be built to formula atlantic or group n2 specs but it would either be less powerful (N2) or ridiculously expensive (formula atlantic). At that point his skill level had reached the limits of a streetable ae86 anyways.

The engine he blew was a one of a kind racing engine essentially detuned for street, which they explained shortly before or after the original engine went. I didn't expect the Takahashi Bros to replace/ repay something like that but I meant simply replacing it with another stock engine if retiring the 86 was the ultimate end result. Someone who has a dedicated mechanic team following them around in 2-3 vans filled with tools and tires has the money for a spare stock engine.

Apparently riding a manual gearbox is a lot like riding a bike in that if you learn to do it, you'll never forget.
